Backed Waterford for the All Ireland there. Each way 30/1.
How is McGrath settling in? Any panel named yet?
Fine.
No.
Here we go so.
Christy Ring betting is a favourite of mine and I’ve done okay out of it, I think it’s often mispriced due to general lack of knowledge of the teams involved.
Mayo vs Meath. Bet Mayo 1pt @ 7/2 (Boyles)
Both first round winners, Meath had the tougher task in beating Down which would have been an upset. Meath (at home) were 5 point winners in the corresponding fixture in the league. Meath the better of the two teams, but Mayo at home this time around won’t be far off. If I could get handicap betting on this I’d definitely be on Mayo from 4+. They might price it up before Saturday. In the meantime they are worth a bet @ 7/2. They are max 2/1.
Down v Derry. Bet 2pt Down @ 6/5 (PP)
Both come in as first round losers, Down the reigning Champs were shocked by Meath in first round and will be keen to put that right this time around.
Derry had a decent League campaign before being absolutely trimmed by Kerry last day (it was something mad like 2-18 to no score at half time), Down are the better team and at home should have too much for them. Won’t be too much in it but they are a fair price @ 6/5.
Wicklow v Kildare. Bet 3pt Wicklow @ 5/6 (PP) NAP
The two drew first day out. Wicklow will take them at home.
Accum returns 14/1. You’d never know.
London are 8/1 which seems big, unlikely to win but if they price up London +7 or so I’d have a bet on them. Antrim have been poor this year.
Followers of GAA betting on this forum will recall that I delivered a three way accumulator of each the lesser hurling competition finals last year ( Ring, Meagher and Rackarc Cups ). This paid out at 14/1 on the day. For those of you who weren’t lucky enough to follow my advice last year, I would just like to say that it is highly unlikely that I will ever deliver anything similar again.

JG - what does the 1pt, 2pt 3pt refer to in your suggested bets
Kerry are nailed on certs for the Christy Ring this year BTW, the only way they might not win is if they take it for granted. The way they are playing this year they could take on combinations of the the next few best teams and still win.
The size of suggested bet. You can take as a 1-5 scale. I’m not very confident Mayo will win so thats 1pt. I’m reasonably confident Wicklow will win thats 3pts. If I was 100% sure it’d be a 5pt
Cheers.

I think Magic Johnson and Paul Brannif are not playing with Down this year. Is this correct?

Magic is injured, they should still have too much four Derry who were apparently appalling against Kerry. Did you go into it?
no Julio. I hope to make a match or two before the campaign is finished. yourself?
Only heard second hand reports

All 3 tipped teams lost by a point!
I see Cavan are priced up at odds against vs Armagh.
Despite having to travel to the Athletics Ground, I’d fancy Cavan to repeat last year’s victory

Armagh have much better players and should they have their main players fit then they will beat Cavan.
Who do you consider to be their main players Bomber ?
Armagh are absolutely brutal. They will not beat Cavan.
McKeever, Kernan, Donaghy and Morgan all missed the bulk of the league campaign and they will be four nailed on starters in defence if they are fit and ready. Thought Armagh had a decent league campaign given the extent of their injury problems and the form shown by the likes of Campbell, the two Raffertys, Findon and Harold were very encouraging.
I’d imagine an Armagh side at full strength would look something like this:
McEvoy
Mallon
Donaghy
Morgan
Aaron Kernan
McKeever
Shields
Harold
Ethan Rafferty
Caolan Rafferty
Dyas
Tony Kernan
Clarke
Campbell
Forker
Some good options like Brian Mallon, McVerry, Findon, Hughes and Vernon to come off the bench then. I could only see three of four Cavan players being better options than those players.
