“Owes them nothing” is getting a great auld run out these past 24 hours.

As in Stephen Cluxton owes Dublin GAA nothing.

He apparently owes his teammates nothing too. Nor his current manager. Nothing.

“He owes them nothing” is a cliché that has not always been true of recently retired All-Ireland winning goalkeepers.

Dessie is showing a lot of wakeness allowing this nonsense.

Thank him for his service and tell him to fuck off

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t.

Farrell is in an impossible situation.

If things go bad for Dublin he’d be blamed for

a) Jettisoning Cluxton and Dublin could have done with him
b) Blamed for letting the Cluxton situation take over and unsettle the squad.

I don’t think any reasonably minded person thinks Farrell should allow Cluxton to just rock back in whenever he wants. Draw a line under it now and be done with it

Cluxton has put Dessie in a dreadful position and its totally unnecessary.

Retire and end the shite. If you want to come back, then just come back.

It all comes down to him just being a socially inept oddball it seems.

Beautifully played by Dessie. As Dermo mentioned during the week, opposition put in hours of work trying to deconstruct Clucko’s kick outs to the detriment of working on their own game plan. Dessie will have the muldoons hopping like sausages in a frying pan wondering will Clucko be sprung later in the championship with some new kick out strategies that they haven’t had a chance to analyse. Insert chess v checkers pic here

Cluxton is probably the most revered figure in Dublin GAA. I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as that, I think the fairest thing to do would be for him to say to Cluxton that this year is out for him anyway but does Dessie want to go down as the guy who retired Cluxton? I don’t think so.

I think he’s in an impossible decision and Cluxton should be conscious of that.

Or Dessie could just grow a pair.

I didnt realise Dermo was so simple. Nor you for that matter.
