Gaa Draw 2016

If this goes ahead, and God willing it won’t, I hope to fuck its pissing rain and the shit gets torn out of the sod. And then there’s a pitch invasion afterwards. And we rip down the goalposts. And tear the roof off the new stand.

Top notch envy there @myboyblue

Not at all. The Dubs and Wickla (Dublin South Central) are gonna fuck your stadium up mate. Its gonna be of the hook. And with a bit of luck, Richie Hogan might fall over into one of the holes torn up in the pitch.

that Dubs match in Kilkenny will be a super day out. Great stadium, great town for drinking, great transport links. It’s all there.

If your stadium had a hint of soul and slightly over a meagre 6000-7000 odd seats you might have a bit of an argument …

Well its not my stadium, but thanks. Also Wicklow thanks you.

Ah, so we now judge stadia on soul. Interesting development. And we now decide on venues not as a result of who comes out of the draw first. Also an interesting development.

1.2M spent on O’Moore Park in the past 12 months, and they deem it unworthy of hosting a Leinster Quarter Final.

Hilarious.

Odd, all those things you spoke of are in Portlaoise also. Wicklow sadly only has one.

Nowlan Park has seating 3/4 way round, about the same is covered and has a terrace for the Dubs and on the same side as the train station. Perfect! Throw in the 25,000 or so capacity, sure you’d be wondering why Kilkenny don’t get more football matches. Plus it brings football to a predominantly hurling county - fantastic!

I thought Dublin fans loved terraces. This is a strange development.

Here, you’re fully aware that taking the dubs out of croker is a little different than Laois v Carlow or whatever passes for a typical Leinster QF in your breezeblock of a stadium.

You can get all stroppy about it but it’s just the realpolitik and economics of the situation. More seats = more money which will somewhat offset the hole in the accs caused by taking the dubs to the country in the first place.

And who knows, maybe some of that money will be in the next installment to pay for more concrete in O’Moore park!

Why should it be different?

It shouldn’t but it is. I guess some pigs are just more equal than others …

Thats all you have?

Ok. It is because the dubs wield more economic and political power. In this instance that’s prob not even the reason. The reason is money. More money from Nowlan park than O’Moore park. That outweighs whatever meagre political firepower that Laois brought to the table I suspect. No one outside Laois really gives a shit that they’ll spend 6 months whining about it.

Then why spend 250K on a feasability study on O’Moore Park just a few short years ago to have such an about turn?

Why give Laois GAA €1 million in the past 12 months to do up O’Moore Park?

Your money argument doesn’t really hold up. By the way, there’s no need to take it so personally. Don’t be getting so upset.

Its a pity that Laois are having to stand alone on this point in Leinster, again.

I don’t think the points are mutually exclusive. I think it’s wonderful that Laois get a nicer stadium. I’m sure the Leinster council has given money to other counties too for their projects. Maybe even KK. If they think that’s the best use of their money then they should continue.

In this instance though there is a clear capacity/facility gap between the two stadiums. That’s prob the difference that swung the decision. No biggie - it’s just business.

And I really amn’t taking it personally - I’m a rugby head, remember!

The Blue Army have already booked out the Marble city for the 3 day banker. Rockville Drive ain’t got shit on us.

Might have been related to the origin of our last GAA president?
