GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread - Where will Rory Gallagher end up? (Part 2)

I thought it strange myself but I have it on good authority.

I wonder how much O’Hara was on at Mohill.

Hard to tell really. They’re well fit to spend money so they must be flaithulach enough.
The renovations to the Park and the latest developments run into some money whether they’re getting local fellas to do the bulk of it or not. The proposed clubhouse bar is an interesting venture that’s a minefield from my limited knowledge of some of the prospective patrons…

Well I won’t be darkening their door anyway.

Rory Kavanagh gone from Watty Graham’s.

I’m just parking this in here so we’ll know who to blame when things go wrong.

Strangely former long jump champion Gareth Devlin is now the man in Louth :face_with_monocle:
Gavin ā€œHorseā€ Devlin won’t be happy about that.

Philly gets shitcanned. Back to ballymun he goes.

Surprised he got the job, as they could probably have the pick of managers. Yes, he won a county championship with Eunans, but more than half the team I’d say were either intercounty players or ex-intercounty players. One championship title in 3 seasons was probably an underachievement with the squad he had available to him. I’d say he’ll slot in to the Donegal development squad setup, unless Jim takes him under his wing in the backroom team.

1 year and done. Fairly damning for him that they won one with no manager at all in 2021.

5 months.

Finnian Moriarty is the new manager of Glen Maghera. I thought they might close ranks and plump for Rory.

Mercifully, while we’re not exactly producing medical professionals in sufficient numbers the trains bringing in club managers and their ā€˜backroom teams’ have never been busier.

Philly was born to be a pundit. He could be the new Brolly/hook/dunphy the nation is crying out for

You seem eager for Rory Gallagher to be given a job somewhere?

Its a tricky one I wont lie.

The reality is that Gallagher hasn’t been charged or found guilty of anything. He was investigated and effectively cleared. He has full custody of his kids which by all accounts is extremely rare in these situations.

The whole case centres around a Facebook post that may or may not be true.

On another thread there is discussion on another GAA Manager/Coach who has been found guilty of very serious crime and spent time in prison. The opinion there seems to be that everyone deserves a second chance.

The all conquering Glen Minor Teams of 2011-2014 are in the last chance saloon time now to get another All Ireland out of it, so I thought they might just say to hell with the outside noise and get Gallagher in.

I do agree largely with this. All this was taken at face value from a facebook post and the cancel culture did its thing. I recall headbangers trying to ruin a hotels reputation as they sponsored Nass when there was talk of him getting the job there.

That said he appears to be a vile individual who i wouldnt want next or near any club i was part of.

Do you think its possible some have it on good authority from local sources?

Im sure it is.

I think its too simple to discount this as a simple facebook post and cancel culture. And the status of custody of the children isn’t a simple situation either.

Im not for one second defending him but he wasnt charged let alone convicted of anything which you can only assume was for lack of evidence. I know nothing of the status of his kids. That doesnt mean he isnt a vile individual.

I wouldnt agree with Jarlath writing the email, but I’d also not want him anywhere near a Club I’d be involved in.
