GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

That and the entire second half.

Looks like Cian O’Neill will be announced as the new Kildare manager today, with Brian Murphy heading the backroom team. If its true its a good appointment, probably the only native who’d know what to do with the team. There was rumours flying about last night, seemed nailed on that Glenn Ryan had it.

Interesting

Sadly it won’t be Glenn. O Neill will be interesting. Doesn’t lack confidence.

Yeah, the bad blood between Glenn and Ger Donnelly was hard to overlook. O’Neill a better appointment anyway. At least he can go back to messing around with programme makers in Laois.

Jesus he’s mad for a job.
Hard to see what he’d bring

Ya and it was messy (surprise surprise) as well and its believed it has also lost McCarthy in the race.

One man being blamed and a member of selection committee extremely unhappy.

Why wouldn’t someone involved in this horseshit just come out and call out whoever is causing the issues. One man interferring with a prospective managers policies even before he has the job.

Farcical carry on again in Cork.

Will Kildare get some of the boys back from Australia now? How many of them are actually making an impact over there?

They also have a good few lads (possibly 5 or 6) who opted off the panel over the last year so it would only be good for the game if they can get all them back and actually start to do something. The players would seem to be there they just need to galvanise. Hopefully Dublin can get some challenges in Leinster. Kildare and Meath would in my opinion have the players that should be able to give Dublin a game.

Meath are an interesting side for next year. O’Dowd for the first time in his tenure (as far as I know) seemed to completely changed tact for the match against Tyrone and set out a very defensive side where they came close to taking Tyrone.

Tom Mul has done his interview.

Hugh McGrillen will be back, as will Hyland, Mulhall and O’Connor. Kevin Feeley is coming home after giving soccer a go too. Not sure about the lads in Oz, Brophy is the most naturally talented forward we’ve had in the last 5 years so having him back would be superb.

Galway trying to get rid of Cunningham?!

Idiots.

What nonsense is at the root of it this time?

Must be something in the water out west

Me hole. He fucked away an AI by closing his eyes for its entire second half. Cunningham’s bluff is over.

Maybe they’ll get Aidan Harte’s father to manage them. He knows it all.

Would be madness to oust him now. Ok they made a balls of it in the second half of the final but not enough to get rid.

How many more chances does he deserve? Christ but this aura around Cunningham is as thick as caked shit on a bullocks hole at the height of summer.

How long has he been in charge? 4 years?

2 AI final appearance, they were the better team in the drawn game in 2012. Were well in the replay up to the red card.

Better team in the first half this year. Played shite in the second half but overall I think Cunningham has done a decent job in his tenure.

If he is to be ousted by players after this year the only managers who are probably safe are Derek McGrath and Cody.
