GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

He is one of very men alive who has won a senior hurling AI in last ten years as a manager.

LK are fucked now but like Clare LK have not the players @ChocolateMice @balbec think they do

The new Clare management can’t make your forwards grow to be natural ball winners. Davy’s stewardship will seem a golden era soon. Clare going nowhere fast.

Clare are done forget us I am trying to

“Speculation is mounting that Davy Fitzgerald could be poised to…”

@Jackie Cahill - your piece in the Irish Times is couched in this type of fence sitting language. Are you working off briefings from the Wexford County Board or Davy’s side?

It was on Clare FM too bud

better then ye

In fairness to Davy, he raised a hell of a lot of the money to fund the Clare senior hurlers and the backroom team himself as opposed to bleeding the county board dry. As to how all the money he raised through US backers was apportions and spent may be a different story.

He will be a somewhat decent appointment if it is for 2 seasons or so. He will bring relatively high standards in terms of commitment and approach but eventually the flogging will take its toll.

So has he got the job or is it all media spin?

Anyone who knows management or coaching knows he is bluffing. And i would say thats the belief inside as well in Clare.

Winning is not always a barometer of good coaching.

Brilliant news. Hope Wexford land him. They are my fourth favourite hurling county after Limerick and Tipperary. And Davy will do a super job for them. A proven winner and he won’t tolerate half the fuck acting a home grown manager would have to put up with.

I get that.

If it is so obvious, what is going on in Wexford?

I presume he would bring a level of discipline to proceedings.

They have been competitive in u21, so surely players are knocking around.

Ffs. Is losing a better barometer?

And thats not good management.

County Board people often haven’t a fucking notion what or who they are looking for.

Thinly veiled I am the person the county board are looking for and they don’t know it. Yet.

No but sometimes coaches simply end up with a group of hungry and talented players. And no matter what they do they get success.

Flyod Mayweather trains like shit and has a terrible lifestyle. But he is still the best.

With young players for 2-3 years ypu can throw anything at them and they will adapt and it will improve their fitness etc. However at some plint it gets more nuanced. Davy cannot do that part

Thinly veiled Kev and his lateral thinking and educated coaching experience annoys the fuck out of me so i will follow him around and attack every point with brutal banter.

In my experience Wexford hurling people are highly strung, emotional, passionate and fundamentally decent. This could be a perfect fit.

Young players have been warned, they are far more educated in whats needed. Players meet and talk to each other alot more now. Now how it might work is if Davy concedes some power and organisation to the Coaches and he gets really good ones in. How likely is that though? He refused to listen to every coach he ever had so far. It seems a stretch that would change.
