GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Indeed. However we live in a GAA world of Gary Kirby’s fingers, DJ Careys steps, Tony Keady going to the US.

Things are not ‘gotten over quickly’ in a sport bound together by parochial differences.

Derry should go after Malachy O’Rourke.

He’s brought Monaghan as far as he can and Derry have the makings of a good team if they get a good defensive system and get all their best players committing. They have lots of good young players coming through now and another off season in the gym should bring the likes of Keenan, McGuigan, Tallon etc come on.

He knows Derry football well from his time with the Loup and I think his appointment would help the players buy into the county again.

It would be a savvy move.

Pat Gilroy being heavily linked with the Dublin hurling job

He’ll be a facilitator manager with coaches around him

I hope wee marty is alright

Would be a great move

Absolutely. Who goes in with him will be interesting

Agreed. Impressive character

Are any of the previous setup an option after being associated with Ger?

Not a snowballs chance in hell I’d suggest.

McGuirk seems to be highly thought of.

Joey Fortune I’d say

He has it all in ways. All Ireland winning manager, very well respected and liked, comes from a dual Senior club, is a dub.

The person who may dislike this the most is Jim Gavin!!!

Derek McGrath will be seething

That was laughed out the gate by my Waterford connection. Think it was awful rubbish

Well Derek McGrath himself laughed it out the gate recently enough and said he’d no idea where it came from

Wishful thinking on behalf of the Dublin hurling public.

It was leaked by someone on the Waterford Board. Allegedly

Sure.

Derek had a great laugh about it on WLR last week.
