I wouldn’t be so sure . They will be there or thereabouts next year . If they can keep Richie Hogan fit they will be very very competitive .
Richie doesn’t give a bollix anymore
He gave Lk a lot of grief in the Q/f .
When the chips were down he went ha boo
I spotted Richie at Applegreen last week. He hopped in to his sponsored 182 Ford Kuga munching on a bar of chocolate.
He Scored a goal in the last 10 minutes and at that wasn’t 100 % fit . Kk gassed in last 5 minutes . Also no Walter that day and lots of niggly injuries .
Richie Hogan hasn’t been fit for years. Crocked with injuries. He has a good 20-30 minutes in him at most. Kilkenny won’t be winning an All Ireland any time soon. Can’t be relying on 30 somethings as your main men now. It’s a young mans game.
Kk won’t be far away next year and mark my words . There is no real outstanding team at the moment . Not saying they will win the AI in the next few years but they will remain very competitive .
if it wasn’t for Eoin Murphy that day we’d have bate them clean out the gate
He ran riot for the first twenty mins at centre forward, then he was swapped into the corner with Reid coming out. Reid had spent the first twenty minutes getting bate up a stick by Finn, who then proceeded to shackle Hogan.
To be fair to Hogan he was pretty much gassed at this stage.
Cody had gone all out in the first twenty to kill us off. Presumably thinking, that like Limerick of old if they could get ahead they’d finish us off. Reid in the corner to get goals and using up the 20 minutes Hogan had in him early on.
Another day it might well have worked. Don’t think if they had gotten over us they’d have won it though.
Its not like Eoin Murphy is going to be retiring any time soon
Kilkenny haven’t been very competitive for a few years now. They’ve shipped heavy beatings from Tipperary, Waterford and Galway in each of the past three seasons.
When did Waterford give them a heavy beating?
Waterford knocked Kilkenny out of the 2017 championship. Beat them by 7 points.
Kk full back line was really left exposed that day . Remember Kk were missing Walter , were on a third week after 2 provincial finals, and 2 key players were carrying niggles .
Gillane made him look like a superstar.
He did. He made a great save from hegarty as well if memory serves.
Kilkenny are far too reliant on Eoin Murphy. Any team with pretensions on winning an All Ireland should not be having to rely on last gasp heroics from a goalkeeper to the extent they do.
Murphy will get a pain in the bollix being target practice behind Joey Holden and Co before too long and will fuck off.
It was a draw after 70 minutes, no?
