GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Ten years maybe? I’d say he played nine or ten all Ireland finals anyway.

  Too right!

He’s seen and done it all. He knows what it takes to win and is a great reader of the game.

Lee Keegan is being groomed for The Sunday Game. I think he’ll be a very bland pundit. Colm Boyle has a bit about him but I wouldn’t see him having much more than a three or four year shelf life on The Sunday Game.

Cillian O’Connor might be pugnacious enough to be a decent pundit.

Dermo would be epic.

I remember him being more of a liability than anything the last few he started, got away with it though.

Is he any good at it? I saw him on Prime Time lately talking about online abuse of GGA players and he was inarticulate and resorted to muldoon cliche speak. I’ve never listened to his podcast (is it his?) on the Indo.

Davy and Duignan had a massive row a few years ago so this would be an amazing story if true.

Davy Fitz should hold on about 3 years before taking the Offaly job and he’d have a plethora of impressionable young hurlers to mould in his image. He could be gone before the real talent from this years minor crop filters through. He’d convert Dan Ravenhill into a great sweeper.

Philly has the medals, a massive ego and is incredibly biased so would make a great pundit.

He might be doing that thing where he leaks he’s on the verge of taking one job to try to bounce the powers that be to give him the job he actually wants…

What was this mate?

I’d be worried about what you see a good pundits qualifications being. Werent you a big fan of Dunphy?

Would Davy taking on Offaly be a step down or a step up from his current intercounty role? Genuine question.

Step up. Offaly is box office and going places.

Davy slagged off Duignan’s punditry and Duignan fired back that he was a single father and needed the money from RTE.

@Bandage this sums Philly up perfectly. He’s kind of a pseudo science/coaching speak man who also encouraged ‘going through the back of Clifford’s head’ for the second mark. He has just that right level of hypocrisy to drive people crazy and cause controversy.
I think he’s been contributing to the indo one all year but I heard him on with Spillane and brolly for the first time this week.
