Galway this year played very little different than under walsh who got over the top negativity. Galway beat fuck all this year to get to a final. Watch them closely every bit as defensive as under walsh.

Walsh - dreadfully negative and got worse as his tenure went on
Joyce - started openly but tightened up last season
No comparison to the level of defensiveness though under Walsh

Joyce switched for the Mayo game to pulling in his 5 & 7 as holding halfbacks and freed up Daly to be a distributor. 8-12 covered plenty ground then. The Jarlath’s model wasn’t working

He did indeed. Walsh on the other hand pulled his entire half forward line. It was septic stuff. Joyce tightened it up. Walsh choked it

Course we won’t. We are a division 2 team for the foreseeable but we won an u20 a few years back playing good football. Playing turgid negative shit is going nowhere and we are clearly not any use at it
Not saying they werent dreadful but bar a few league games pre covid so have Galway under joyce if not worse. We played them three times year gone by and there as defensive as around. Because they cam break at pace with mcdaid walsh or lomg ball comer it hides it but as bad if not worse as under walsh. And iv watched us against both to much.
There current half forward line basically the same. Heaney plays as a back. Tierney drops to midfield so midfielder can drop back leave Daly free

Winning the U20 All-Ireland with Kildare and getting Wicklow promoted to Division 3 and keeping them there is a decent body of work to be fair to him. Scalped Cavan last year.
That game against Armagh was probably the greatest game of Gaelic football I’ve ever attended. Albeit it only got going in stoppage team. Was it 2-22 they kicked that day? They may not be gung-ho but they’re not awful to watch either. I wouldn’t blame them for the turgid semi-final against Derry.

I not knocking it. Kts suits galway breal at pace with players they have. Dublin kerry every bit as defensive. Galway play great football bit i dont like people knockimg what kevin walsh did. He done great work. Derry were a disgrave this year and wont do fuck all with that manager. Wouldnt have won any other province last year
