would big joe be tempted back i wonder…
Never go back, unless you’re Kenny “The King” Dalglish.
He’d never succeed no-one would want to ‘move’ there to play for him.

He already has Billy Joe.
Nicky English will be the new Dublin hurling manager
Paul Grimley has been appointed as the new Armagh senior football manager.
No he won’t.
Peter Fitzpatrick TD has stepped down as bainisteoir of the Louth footballers
Jack O’Connor has resigned as Kerry manager.
Correct, the new Dublin Manager will be the old Dublin Manager:
Staying on: Daly ready to continue with Dublin
IAN O’RIORDAN
Anthony Daly will continue as Dublin senior hurling manager for at least one more season. Although Daly has yet to agree the details of his extension, Dublin chairman Andy Kettle has revealed he’s “99 per cent certain” to continue for a fifth season.
“There are a few little i’s to be dotted and t’s to be crossed,” said Kettle, “but Anthony is about 99 per cent certain to come back on board, and if I were a betting man, I’d be putting a few bob on him being Dublin hurling manager next year.”
Daly met both Kettle and Dublin secretary John Costello at length last week, and it seems Daly was keen to continue for one more year, and the Dublin County Board were keen too that he would stay.
“Anthony would have had a lot of enthusiasm himself and particularly after the game in Cusack Park against his own county, probably not the one he wanted to go out on, and probably an advantage to me to be able to remind him he mightn’t want to go out on that note.
“But Anthony is a very driven person. He does feel there’s a lot more in Dublin, he does feel he made one or two mistakes, that could be corrected, and he does feel that maybe Dublin lost their way a little bit and the mind went away from hurling on to other matters.
“In fairness to Anthony, he will look at everything closely. Probably, from his point of view, to come back again with the same group, both in panel and backroom, mightn’t be the best idea in the world.
“But this is a young enough panel, they’re not going away regardless of who is managing them. But really what we need to do with Dublin senior hurlers this year is stop the rot, turn it around and get it back up to at least where it was in 2011.”
Bit disappointed Eamonn Fitzmaurice hasn’t been documented here as new Kerry gaffer. He is now.
Just for you Appendage:
Whats probably more significant is the appointment of Darragh O’Se as U21 manager.
Eamon Fitzmaurice to take over as Kerry senior football manager in three-year deal
Updated: Monday, 27 Aug 2012 21:58
Fitzmaurice steps up to the senior job in the Kingdom
As expected, the Kerry county board have ratified the selection of Eamon Fitzmaurice as the county’s new football manager on a three-year deal
The All-Ireland winner from 2000, 2004 & 2006 takes over the reigns from Jack O’Connor who resigned in the aftermath of the elimination from the All Ireland series against finalist Donegal earlier this month
No news as yet on Fitzmaurice’s backroom team which is expected to include Seamus Moynihan, Dairmuid Murphy and Mikey Sheehy.
Daragh O Sé has been appointed as manager of the under 21s, filling the position which had been held by Fitzmaurice.
The county committee have yet to appoint a successor to John Meyler as senior hurling boss.
It was mentioned in the AISFC thread, this one merely suffices for off season discussion I feel.
It was lost in that thread. There should at least have been a link showing the work done.
No he wont, Daly is staying on
Liam Bradley has stepped down as Antrim senior football manager
Yes and when Daly goes, Nicky English will be the new Dublin hurling manager
I think getting English now if possible would be good for Dublin. They need a good thinking forwards coach. Daly is excellent but unless he dramatically changes his approach, which is unlikely, Dublin just wont take that next step i feel. He’ll need to really shake up his backroom team at a minimum.
Even thinking back to the forwards he had in his final Clare season, Carmody, Griffin, Gilligan, McMahon, Nugent + Markham, the emphasis was on strength and self sustainance rather than anything really new
I think the Dubs really needed a fresh voice at this stage, not taking away from the work he has done in previous years but this past year they didn’t look to have any appetite at all…
English hasn’t managed for over 10 years. He also believes there are no tactics in hurling. I’d much sooner stick with Daly.
