Waterford have had terrible travelling support for years.
I have to disagree. But I am biased I suppose in the luxury of watching this Limerick hurling team.
Limerick v Waterford will do well to break 30 thousand next weekend.
I remember being in Thurles 12 years ago @BruidheanChaorthainn for the same fixture. There was probably 16k there.
Fondly Remembering Kevin Downes got those two goals. We ended up losing the same day.
I do but Limerick are know potentially one of the greatest sides of all time so youâd hope people would be out in force.
Tipp v Clare should attract a good crowd.
Galway v Dublin I think Is next weekend at half four.
All the more reason for them to play as many matches as possible mate.
Tipp vs Clare in Ennis is a massive game. That will be a sellout.
Hurling has lost a lot of its cache since about 2018. The small number of counties that used take it serious is shrinking further
Limerick had lost the final in 96. Bandwagon at its height.
Clare were 1995 champions, looking to get back on track.
First round of Munster and SF of Munster. Knockout. No do overs.
There was 40 thousand at a Limerick v Waterford game in a pandemic in Dublin 2 years ago.
Limerick vs Waterford wouldnât be expected to get 30k, that would be a phenomenal attendance.
If this was a pre-round robin fixture in the Munster Championship, youâd probably get 24 or 25k absolute max, considering Waterfordâs expected chances.
I think itâll probably be in and around that tbh.
Less is better when it comes to the Championship. The big selling point of the GAA Championships for over a century was the do or die nature of it. GAA have spent years now aping soccer style league, round robins or the phrase beloved of Martin Breheny âchampions league style formatâ.
What they fail to grasp is that sterile type leagues where the new barometer of success is finishing 4th has killed off what was about the best knockout competition in just about any sport since the 1870âs the FA Cup.
What in the name of God is this monstrosity of a revamped Football Championship. Letâs double the number of games from 32 to the mid 60âs, make either of the two likely winners of it Dublin or Kerry play 8 or 9 Championship games before winning it, instead of 5 or 6 by giving them a Champions League style round robin group phase to hammer the shit out of Louth, Sligo, New York, Clare or Westmeath across 3 extra games.
Yes mate. In an AIF. If you canât see the difference then gawdtelpus
I cannot wait for Sunday week. 2pm. Thurles. Throw it in ta fuck.
I only took a look at the football championship last night. Itâs worse the Heineken cup.
Semi final.
Itâs some crock of shit âŚ
I agree that the football format is ridculous. And the hurling format is a bit milk the fans for what they are worth. But neither has anything at all to do with the split season
Itâll be a mauling. If Limerick really want to open up and go for it Iâd say a 30 point hammering could be on the cards.
It will do well to break 20k to be honest, and the vast majority of those will be from Limerick. Waterford donât do big crowds, go back through Munster Finals over the years and any small attendance generally had the Blaas involved.
I could hardly blame them for not travelling next weekend either tbh.
