Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

Bax Affice.

Club game is dying

Record number of tickets to be sold for Munster hurling championship according to John Fogarty in Examiner.

Record attendances everywhere but no one can see them on GAAGO :person_shrugging:t2:

Thereā€™s been 4 years of the split season. This is the first time Waterford arenā€™t playing in their 10k stadium so the numbers were always going to be up.

A meritocracy would have the best teams winning it all the time.

Christ of Almighty as if the sense of occasion hasnā€™t been destroyed with the timing the venue is a shocking choice. Mullingar or Longford along the M4 equidistant for both sets of supporters (1150).
But Breffni Park, lovely ground and all as it is is awkward for everyone. Shit ideaā€¦ā€¦

Didnā€™t play there in 2018 either, also its 2nd year of the split season, 2020&21 were all over the place with covid lockdowns.

Just over 11,000 tickets sold for the massive Clare v Waterford, 6pm Saturday evening, hidden behind a paywall, Split Season Munster Senior Hurling Championship Mini Blitz Spring Challenge.

Split season zealot @Perez2017 is normally very fast out of the blocks to post up crowd attendance figures. Maybe heā€™s talking a few days off from internetting.

Big game is in Carla today youā€™d have to say

Can you imagine if Munster v Leinster was on rugby go and Clare v Waterford was on Rte. the difference of viewership and coverage.

The split season and round robin has definitely breathed life back into provincial rugby.

Youā€™d imagine behind a paywall would drive up the attendance?

29,000 for the 2 biggest rugby teams in Ireland in cup semi final is pitiful. Limerick v Clare and Cork.v Tipp in the mickey mouse round robins as you call them had moreā€‹:grinning::grinning::grinning:

14,000 to watch that Waterford team is a massive attendance.

Was there a split season 35 years ago?, what a pitiful crowd, no GAAGO, rugby or anything else really.

Clare and Waterford, two counties renowned for their love of music and the split season blazers schedule it for the Saturday night of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Just another shocking weekend for the great game of hurling.

29k was a very good crowd. I wasnā€™t sure it would break 25k. Given theyā€™d a week to sell ticket.

I canā€™t agree with that. Carlow roaring into the Joe McDonagh Cup Final at the expense of Laois and all the bitter tears that has produced in Graiguecullen and beyond was just priceless.
