Indeed. Dublin v Meath sacrificed at the altar of creating 24 pointless matches in a Robin Robin Sweet Sixteen to process the reduction from 16 to 12 and the elimination of the likes of Louth, Clare, Westmeath and Sligo from the Championship.
Meath have been routinely hammered by Dublin since 2010. I have vivid memories of Dublin hammering Meath on the evening of France v Ireland in Euro 2016 which was the dampest of damp squips but yeah the split season has ruined the Dublin Meath rivalry.
Iām in favour of the split season because it gives club championships all over the country a proper window to play their championships, though a slightly later finish to the inter county championship would be preferable.
I find your bellyaching about small clubs comical. You have made it clear from the start of this thread that you donāt give a fuck about small clubs or any other type of club for that matter. Your upset about the split season because it disrupts your summer socialising plans. Nothing wrong with that but maybe try to be honest about it.
Im coaching an u8 camogie and an u14 hurling team. I spent the previous 4 years coaching the adult hurling team in my club along with the juvenile teams. You go to watch Limerick and drink pints. Its unclear which one is your priority.
Dublin hurlers would be far closer to my heart than the footballers but will say the footballers were winning all irelands long before the split season came in.
Itās helped massively by the split season though. The split season is a representation of all the decisions the gaa keep making to suit the super clubs and the biggest counties.
If you support the split season you support the folding of rural gaa clubs and making it verging on impossible for majority of counties to be competitive at inter county level.
You stick to the Man City of the gaa.
Iāll stick to supporting all clubs around the country and ensuring everyone has a fair crack of the whip.
