Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

It’s very unfortunate as the strongest point of the round robin is the local rivalries but it’s also hindering the growth of the game too in some ways.

If Kerry come into Munster they should get five home games.

Only change i would make is exactly that, bring kerry in with 5 games in Kilarney. Would be Bumper crowds each weekend from all other counties to make a day or weekend out of it

Carabao :joy:

Killarney me hole.Tralee would be plenty big enough. The yerras won’t go to a big ball match in Killarney they’ll hardly bring 1k to a hurling match.

Leinster is already a 6 team championship sure. They’d replace whoever gets relegated. Not that it’ll be happening this season anyway.

Sure Limerick and cork would bring a big crowd. Clare would too if they can get over the fear of the ferry.

Tipp crowd will go for the novelty of having a weekend in Kilarney

Thats what happens if a leinster team wins joe mc. Tipp had the competition rules updated as previously if kerry won joe mc they would have a play off against the bottom munster team.

They would in their bollox. There would be about 4 thousand at each of those matches tops.

Your being generous there lad.About 500 yerras and maybe 2k more if Limerick were playing. They could probably play it in a club pitch tbh

There’d be 4k at the Kerry county final id imagine.

Seems a lot of rural areas have turned their back on the inter county game.

It’s detached from the grass roots of the game. Even the name “Super eights” sounds like something they’d come up with in rugby or American sports.

The Simple things make all the difference.

They should do the current way for one more year and then try the two to qualify for three years. They are close to the perfect format.

Thats how they should have set up if they wanted round robin. Yeah you might get a dead rubber but nearly all games are dead rubber with the current format

Ah they’re not really. There’s a rip roaring game between Cork and Donegal now and nobody even knows it’s on. The qualifier system with the round 1 and 2 losers going into a Tailteann Cup/B tournament was the perfect system. Everyone guaranteed a fair 3 games.

GoGo isn’t even showing Cork v Donegal. They’re showing some Tylenol Cup game involving Sligo though I think.

Sligo v Antrim. Two teams who are already safely through to the knockout stages. A very unusual choice but it was probably made weeks ago.
