Pat would solve gaelic football but the Nordie loving destroyers of the game wouldnât want that
Great footage. Myself and @Piles_Hussain went to a rake of games with our respective fathers in 1991. Donât think I was at this one, we were below in Wexford Park that year for the regular league game alright. Where was Tommy Fogarty (yellow helmet, left half back) from? Pat Ryan in midfield, was he from Urlingford? John Henderson just pulled on everything , loads of ground hurling in general. Power on the 40, begrudging respect to him and how good he was back then. Eamonn Morrissey was my favourite player back then, until Nailer got his place the following year. Titch Phelan in midfield, legend.
I can remember where I was for pretty much every Sunday between about April and December 1991.
Up to around June I was still in my âturnâ against the GAA which had lasted since about 1989. GAA was for mean, miserable, Fianna Fail loving bogmen. I think I attended one GAA game in each of 1989 and 1990, Dublin v Cork in the 1989 NFL Final and Dublin v Kerry with the school the day Mandela got out.
I was dragged along to Dublin v Kerry in the league about February '91. Dublin won handy enough.
I didnât attend the draw between Dublin and Meath in the league on March 10th. My oulâ fella had promised to bring me to Patâs v Derry at Haroldâs Cross in the FAI Cup the same day but in the end he was bed-stricken with flu and I attended nothing.
April 21st we went to the NFL semi-finals with Dublin v Roscommon and Kildare v Donegal. I didnât go to the final on May 5th, I threw a bit of a strop and stayed at home to watch John Parrott demolish Jimmy White 7-0 in the first session of the World Snooker final.
The two Sundays May 19th and 26th were both sunny and we went walking out around Bray and Killiney and Dalkey while listening to GAA on the radio both days. Derry beat Tyrone by one point and Wexford beat Laois in the Leinster hurling championship despite Niall Rigney giving a Tour De France for Leix.
I was mainly interested in Italian football at this particular time. Sampdoria won the league. We went to the FAI Cup final on May 12th between Rovers and Galway. I was up for Rovers and had attended a few games that spring at the RDS, including a rout of 4-0 rout of Cork City and a friendly against Manchester City on Paddyâs Day which went to penalties after a 2-2 draw with Man City winning the shoot out.
Then Sunday June 2nd. Dublin played Meath in the preliminary round of the Leinster football championship and that was it.
After that I attended:
June 9th: Dublin v Meath again (the chicken pox came on me during the second half)
June 23rd: Dublin v Meath again again
June 30th: Leinster hurling semi-finals Dublin v Offaly and Kilkenny v Wexford
July 6th: Dublin v Meath again again again
August 10th: Meath v Laois
August 11th: Down v Kerry
September 22nd: the feckinâ Camogie final, Kilkenny beat Cork and some big Down lassie demolished Tipperary on her own in the junior
October 13th: Thomas Davis v Parnells Dublin SFC final
November 3rd: Dublin v Galway NHL
November 10th: Dublin v Tyrone NFL
November 24th: Dublin v Armagh NFL
December 1st: Thomas Davis v Baltinglass Leinster SFC semi-final
December 15th: Thomas Davis v Clara Leinster SFC final
We got to the final in Croker in the schools tournament and I started playing club that September, then shortly afterwards (about 13 years later) I started writing on the INTERNET.
Unreal ground hurling there from around 40 seconds in
Yeah groundbreaking stuff from Pat

Yep
Kerry County players not playing Divisional Club Championships this year.
How will the zealots try to spin this one? @BruidheanChaorthainn
Sean Finn going off injured for his club at the weekend and o dallaigh too.
Injuries piling up all over the shop.
Itâs beyond ridiculous.
I saw Kev thanking players for playing injured on twitter @Perez2017 must have been like a peacock.
Was 6 Galway starters in the football final that were injured playing?
How have their club campaigns gone so far?
Iâm a fan of the split season but Kerry are taking the piss here. Jack O Connor had lads earlier in the year playing Sigerson games and then asking them in the same day to travel up to Templetouhy to play some McGrath cup game vs Tipp. Quite rich now not asking them play club. Kerry county board shown up here
Jack shoulda been ran last year.
When you gave them an inch they were always going to take a mile.
Do any of them have a pair of balls between them?
Finn and Oâ Dalaigh barely played for Limerick this year. Try a bit harder. Divisional championships are mickey mouse affairs apart from North Kerry championship.
Self praise is no praise lads.
It was 2022 when that happened and yes it was absolute madness from OâConnor.
Itâs a Kerry issue in fairness, not aware of the dynamics but running a club championship, county championship ( top 8 clubs plus 8 divisional teams ) and also a divisional championship sounds like overkill looking in from the outside.
Passed up the handy All Ireland which they hardly ever do.
In another era heâd not have been let back in the county
