Give it a listen when you get home from The Sugar Club.
Why?
He was very steadfast on Rule 42.
Any link?
Your man landers is amazed lads headed to the states for the summer. Itâs against the spirit of the split season apparently.
Iâm sure he was on Primetime around the time as well.
I meant todayâs piece.
Is that the infamous @Mulcair? (Or a Cork version of him)
Declan Hannon backing the split season. The bar stool supporters mightnt be happy but the players certainly are.
They can be happy enough with club championships starting in September so.
True supporters want a mixed season to grow the game.
You suggesting Deccie isnât a true GAA man?
A couple of interesting points mentioned were that Adare are currently playing Club Football championship without Ronan Connolly who is a key player? Thatâs a fairly dangerous precedent to be setting.
In Cork, your season is effectively determined in a 6 day period at the beginning of August, where if you lose two games in quick succession, its âGoodnight Ireneâ.
Knockout Championship, youâd love it
Thats purely a decision made by the club. Oola have done similar for a number of years.
Split season is great for most inter-county players. Most counties are gone from the Championship by mid June so they can head off to the States for the summer.
Lads begrudging inter county players a holiday now as it interferes with their own summer plans
Club is below holidays in the GAA pecking order.
On Dalos podcast it seemed people thought inter county players wouldnât go. Itâs against the spirit of the split season apparently.
Thereâs only going to be two solutions. Either inter county players are banned from playing in America or else clubs will be playing without inter county players.
If a large portion of inter county players are only coming back in September for the club it makes the split season a complete nonsense. They should just start in April/may and have a proper season.
Its a tiny minority of intercounty players (most in college) who have headed to America. This has always being the case. Itâs an amateur sport. Players donât exist for your entertainment. Having played over in Boston myself, the experience is great for young lads. They get to make a few quid and escape the gold fish bowl of being an intercounty player.
