An interesting event this. I was always of the impression the GAA encouraged that those who died from suicide not be celebrated. Its a very tricky one that you can see both sides of.

Hard to believe he was only 22. Had it in my head that he was older than that. The passage of time can play tricks with the mind.

âAlthough he was only on the senior panel for two or three years at most with us, he left a huge mark on us in terms of just the fun and positivity and joy he brought to all our lives during that period. He was just the life, soul, and spirit of the team.
âHe would always lighten the mood even in pressure situations or after defeats, he was always the person that brought a bit of laughter and craic back into the dressing-room after those moments.
âHe was obviously also a really talented hurler. Niallâs potential was phenomenal, I think he would have been one of Galwayâs best backs of all time if he was able to fulfil his potential but it wasnât to be.
âHeâs a huge loss to us, a huge loss to Kilbeacanty and his family and weâre just hoping on December 10 that we can honour his life and recognise his life as well as raise much-needed funds and awareness for mental health.

Probably only rumours after Monivea Abbey getting relegated to intermediate. That said McDaid is a Craughwell man. The Abbey are just a flag of convenience really so he could play football at a high enough level. Wouldnât be that big a shock I think if he were to transfer. Tough on Monivea but they were lucky to pick him up in the first place.
Can he play in goal?
Word on the street is St. Vincents have made an approach to McDaid.

In fairness to Stapleton he has had a few good guests on recently who we dont hear all that much from in the media - Tony Considine, John McIntyre, Cyril.
Theyâd be good to listen to alright but I just canât stomach Stapleton at all.
Stapleton is very hard to warm to but Verney is a serious operator.
Loughrea have an excellent backroom team. A lot of intercounty experience there. Theyâre a very well-coached side and thereâll be nothing handy in the game for St. Thomas.
