I heard Denton is doing the Senior final. I’ll freak if he is.
Wish we had a decent inter county ref. Twould be nice to see Limerick represented in Croke Park more than once a generation.
Oh for a Terence Murray or Pat O’Connor.
Dont think OConnor went down too well with some Galway folk after 2001
Its also the two biggest chokers on All Ireland Final Day in opposition. Only Kilkenny with 25 defeats have lost more than Galway’s 18.
Fuck are you serious. Have Kilkenny lost 25? Never realised that
Kilkenny have tidied up their final record somewhat since the turn of the millennium - it now stands at won 35 lost 25. Going into the 2000 final it was won 25 lost 23.
Galway have won just 4 and lost 18 of their 22 finals. Cork have lost the same number of finals 18, but won 30.
You gotta be in them to win them
Thanks for that. Nice question that for the club pub quiz coming up
That’s true and its worked out that way for Kilkenny if not for Galway. Mind you, I fully expect Galway to buck historical trends on 6 September.
Just as a matter of interest, do you know Tipps record
Won 26 Lost 13. Back in 1965 their record stood at Won 21 Lost 6.
I was actually one out on Cork they’ve lost 19 not 18. I’m looking at information in a programme from 2012. Had a temporary memory blank on Cork been in and losing the 2013 final and hadn’t added that on to the tally.
Cheers GB very informative
No more tipp talk please pal, this thread is about the meeting of the country’s two best teams.
Ah no I was just stunned when GB told me how many Kilkenny had lost. Was just interested thats all
From 1924 to 1979 Galway played in and lost 9 finals. 1980 must have been some relief
No - and he’s married to a Galway woman, if I’m not mistaken. But Murray - now that’s a different story! The dogs on the street knew he’d “let the game flow” in '87! Still a sweet win.
Was at the 87 final. Brutal match. Ger Fennelly wouldnt have scored in a brothel that day
