Kilkenny have tidied up their final record somewhat since the turn of the millennium - it now stands at won 35 lost 25. Going into the 2000 final it was won 25 lost 23.
Galway have won just 4 and lost 18 of their 22 finals. Cork have lost the same number of finals 18, but won 30.

Won 26 Lost 13. Back in 1965 their record stood at Won 21 Lost 6.
I was actually one out on Cork they’ve lost 19 not 18. I’m looking at information in a programme from 2012. Had a temporary memory blank on Cork been in and losing the 2013 final and hadn’t added that on to the tally.

From 1924 to 1979 Galway played in and lost 9 finals. 1980 must have been some relief
No - and he’s married to a Galway woman, if I’m not mistaken. But Murray - now that’s a different story! The dogs on the street knew he’d “let the game flow” in '87! Still a sweet win.
