@Brimmer_Bradley skipping the country for this one. Can’t even face the possibility of another loss to us, the cowardly cunt.

Booking holidays around semi-final time :joy: ---- Almost up there with his faux pas a few weeks back that GAA games are 45 mins a half. If he wasn’t such a staunch GAA man you’d nearly think he was a spoofer.

@Brimmer_Bradley doesn’t seem very confident. All the bitterness is getting to him.

Lads the four of ye ( check the likes) are following me around the place since early morning and I’m not even engaging with ye.

Pace yerselves or ye’ll combust into a big ball of maroon flame and hatred before the teams are even named.

Since the current All-Ireland series was introduced in 2008, 11 of the 18 semi-finals have been won by the provincial winner and 7 by the qualifier route team. Pretty much 60/40 in favour of the provincial winners. In only 3 of the nine years have the provincial winners won both games (2009, 2011, 2016), and the qualifer teams have only done so once (2013). One and one in the other five seasons.

KK were a freak though and skew that.

@Sidney what’s the record like of teams meeting the same team they’ve already beaten in the championship? They say it’s hard to beat the same team twice in one year. Is that a truism?

I had a quick look. It doesn’t happen that teams meet twice too often (ex replays obviously). Going back to 97* when it became possible.

2’15 KK beat Galway both times
2’13 Cork beat Clare, then Clare reversed it
2’12 Galway won Leinster & KK beat them in the AIF.
2’07 Limerick famously reversed Waterford and Dan Shanahan scored none.
2’07 KK beat Wexford twice.
2’06 Waterford lost to Tipp and beat them later in the year.
2’05 Cork beat Waterford x 2
1998 Offaly lost to KK in Leinster final & won all Ireland
1997 Clare beat Tipp *2
*very quick glance might have missed a few

So 9 times in 20 years.
4 times beaten both times
5 times results reversed.

Not much you can read into that except that it’s certainly not easy to beat the same team twice, but not impossible either.

1997 - Clare beat Tipperary in both Munster Final and All Ireland Final
2000 - Kilkenny beat Offaly in both Leinster Final and All Ireland Final
2005 - Cork beat Waterford in both Munster Semi Final and Quarter Final
2007 - Waterford beat Cork in both Munster Semi Final and Quarter Final (replay)
2007 - Kilkenny beat Wexford in Leinster Final and All Ireland Final Semi FInal
2015 - Kilkenny beat Galway in both Leinster Final and All Ireland Final

1998 Offaly reversed a Leinster Final defeat to Kilkenny in All Ireland Final
2006 Waterford reversed a Munster Semi Final defeat to Tipperary in All Ireland Quarter Final
2007 Limerick reversed a Munster Final defeat to Waterford in All Ireland Semi Final
2012 Kilkenny reversed a Leinster Final defeat to Galway in All Ireland Final (replay)
2013 Clare reversed a Munster semi final defeat to Cork in All Ireland Final (replay)
