Gardai acting quite aggressively

The GardaĆ rushing to judgement again and deciding a case before taking time to investigate things.

Iā€™d say there was a clear breakdown in communication from the startā€¦

Thatā€™s the breed thatā€™s coming out of Templemore these days. They all think that theyā€™re Hardy boys and Nancy Drew when in real terms theyā€™re about as competent as Aunt Fanny looking for Timmy the dog in a famous five mystery

Iā€™d a pig ignorant cop stop me at a checkpoint earlier. Started giving me guff for not having my license on me. Iā€™d the wifeā€™s car and was coming back from the childminder with the little one in the back. Plus Iā€™ve one of those old style licenses that simply donā€™t fit into wallets. He was having none of it the bollox. He didnā€™t like that I just shrugged my shoulders about it all :joy:

He eventually left me off with a warning.

Guards are power tripping weirdos

Fuck me. 1.1 million. That is the entire working life of about three average taxpayers.
Ireland is long term fucked.
Your man has won the lottery.

The cops should have been sacked without pension.

While I do agree that itā€™s a fairly hefty pay out , thereā€™s a couple of these cunts out there Flatty who think their shit doesnā€™t stink when they put on the uniform. I got savage hassle from a cunt over the tax being out for a couple of weeks and explaining to her that it was a company car and I was just waiting on it from the office.

Oh I absolutely agree, but how that translates into your man receiving three of your lifetimes tax payments Im just speechless about. Over a million quid for being dragged out of bed. I should fucking sue the hurling club.

He mustnā€™t have liked to look of you to ask for it in the first place? What could he even do anyways?

How small is your wallet that a license doesnā€™t fit into it? Is your license a scroll?

I thought only @Fagan_ODowd had one of these

It was a different handbag. Basically there was a handbag in his house so that was enough for the GardaĆ to drag him out of bed and pepper spray him.

The award seems generous and I reckon will be reduced on appeal but although the case isnā€™t directly about how the fiancee was treated I imagine that played a large part in it. She went to hospital and wasnā€™t allowed to name him as her next of kin. The poor girl had just been attacked, probably doesnā€™t know that many people in Ireland, and she has the GardaĆ telling her sheā€™s lying and then telling the hospital staff not to let her name her boyfriend as next of kin. Iā€™d imagine she was massively traumatised by it.

I know it was a different handbagā€¦ Point Iā€™m making is that the gardai seemed to work off her instructionā€¦ I mean going to the apartment to check on him because her keys were taken is odd

I wonder if there has been any action taken against Sgt Philips as to her unprofessional behaviour in this case? Sounds like someone with a chip on her shoulder.

Probably promoted.

It was outside her apartment and the keys to the apartment were stolen. Wouldnt be that inconceivable to think that she feared the man would break into their apartment and attack him/rob the apartment too after he had just robbed her handbag.

Untrained folks like ourselves would probably think that but you have to remember that these are highly trained Gardai who know better.

Some fellas on here have a serious problem with authority.

Idiots in authority more like. Your average Garda is as thick as a plank.

A fella like Taz wouldnā€™t last a day in Templemore, heā€™d be screaming for his mammy before the Sunday curfew.
