19 guests now,
we lost 17 there after the forum endorsed the Greens as its party of choice
Right wing threequarters on the all time greatest Irish RUF and British Loins teams as decided by the Irish Independent is how he likes to be referred to these days.
But if a guy living in the Bronx, Berlin or Brisbane is at home on holidays during an election he can vote - it makes bits of your nonsensical argument. You must be pretty naive if you think your vote for Clare Daly or anyone for that matter will make a difference with EU/IMF negotiations. Maybe it would be better for the country if Irish citizens abroad could vote - they would be more likely to vote in the national interest with an open mind following their experiences abroad and not get bogged down in local issues like Clare Dalyâs posturing about Dublin Airport, whether there is a Leitrim candidate in Roscommon/Leitrim, if the potholes are filled in Enniscorthy, whether Bobby Alyward stands pints in the Dail bar for his south KK supporters etc etc. The notion that irish citizen domiciled in Malahide has a more important vote than an Irish citizen out of the country on election day is contrary to democracy and the whole notion of a republic.
Id say most people in Ireland - conservative in their background and outlook are generally against giving votes for Irish citizens not in the jurisdiction on voting day. Could hardly be considered populist as a result. Populist would be dropping Irish as a mandatory Leaving Cert subject - good populist idea - mortgage relief for those in negative equity - bad populist idea.
i think you are confusing citizenship and the right to vote. When there shouldnt be any confusion. If you are an Irish citizen you should be entitled to vote regardless of where in the world you are on election day. Other countries - Aus for one, (well they actually force every Aus citizen to vote which I wouldnt agree with) count in all their citizens when it comes to election day. If Ireland truly wanted to embrace its disapora it would do likewise instead of offering stick on certificate of irishness ffs.
Yet you will come on here again giving it the Irish club in Glasgow, the diaspora as one bullshit. Hypocricy at its best again.
P.S. some guy in Berlin has already decided how your taxes will be spent - his name is Angela Merkel
Sure poor Angela Merkel is being ordered around by the lads in the banks.
 and i was doing so well
Would have my doubts about that anyway. Merkel is made of stronger stuff than our yellow cunts. German exports are flying due to the weak euro and the economy expanded by 3.6 percent in 2010, the fastest pace since reunification twenty years ago. Not bad going.
No politician can take on united financial institutions without a massive popular mandate. Merkel is under threat from the right, hence all the âmulti-culturalism has failedâ talk. She canât do anything until they tell her otherwise. These are amongst the most powerful organisations in the world. Courage doesnât have a lot to do with it. And weâre sending Enda Kenny to their gates
How likely is Shatter to retain his seat? Apparently heâs a leading candidate for the Justice portfolio. Itâll be pretty shit to be a muslim then.
A novel approach to fixing our education system. I expect a referendum on Fine Gaelâs right to exist.
The most powerful organisations in the world are not likely to want the fall of the Euro. There will be a move towards some kind of structured default of debt in Europe this year. It will be ok mate you can go to bed now.
What?
And what of Enda Kenny, the man set to inherit this mess? He ducked last weekâs leaders debate on TV, ostensibly because its acerbic host, Vincent Browne, Irelandâs Jeremy Paxman, had suggested he shoot himself, but actually because heâs hopeless on TV.
Adams & Gormley were the only 2 connecting with real people there tonight imo. The 2 of them were the clear winners.
As for teh diaspora voting, I think its only fair that anyone who has had to leave this country and possibly wants to come back someday should get a say. If we bring in Gormleys list sytem then thereâs no reason the emigrants shouldnât have a postal vote.
If someone like KIB wants to vote for the Soldiers of destitute after all heâs been through well then thats his democratic right.

Todayâs Herald reckons FF will win one seat only in Dublin.
Youâd wonder what the next five years will bring in terms of the popularity of the mainstream parties. FG are going to have to make life very hard for an awful lot of people, and although they will do it with glee itâs difficult to see where the victories will come from to maintain their current share of the vote. The likes of Sinn Fein would be nicely set up as large opposition parties, speaking out against the inherent unfairness in much of what FG are going to administrate. The next election will be the year of the Easter Rising celebrations as well. Not a good time for blueshirts.
Youâd wonder how John Redmond and the Home Rule movement will avoid a smilar decimation in 2015 or 16 to the one their Green Tory counterparts are about to face alright
Eamon Ryan wants to scrap the TV license. He also wants to tax the internet.
Is it fair to say you have issues with FG Sid?
