General Election 2011

Those extra posters made all the difference

Look on it a a first step Rocko, FF get wiped out , the opposition in the dail is mainly left wingers of a different ideology to the government parties so the public get exposed to the concept of a differnt way of doing things. The reality is that FG will make life as difficult for “ordinary” people as FF did so there may well be a search for a real alternative at the next election. I know thats simplistic but change will come slowly.

I’d agree completely but it depends on how the Tory ideology takes hold over the next five years. We may end up back with fianna fail or we may see them both in decline yet. Fine Gael don’t have the roots Fianna Fail have.

Wouldn’t have happened 10 years ago. Goes to show how peoples attitudes are changing. Great to see it though.

Yeah I agree. And we’ll have a good opposition anyway. Just not that joyous a day although seeing Michael Kennedy looking hurt on RTÉ was pleasurable.

Missed a Dub NE count somehow:

5th count: Blaney 2,223 Guerin 1,685 Healy 1,049 Kenny 5,216 O’Toole 5,477 Power 5,134

Greene’s votes (Socialist) went to Kenny and O’Toole fairly evenly with Power getting fuck all unsurprisingly.

Now Healy of the Greens to go next.

O’Brien through in Cork.

Massive Provo fest taking place there right now. :guns:

Fantastic scenes altogether.

in Clare Dooley now standing 2nd following Hillerys transfers. Mulcahy now eliminated, his transfers should get the 2 other FGs home so looks like its 2FG, I Lab and I FF

Dessie Ellis in now.

:guns: :guns: :guns:

+1

As expected. We need another O’Connell or DeValera or Bhanjee for us to do something radical

That’s an election after-party you’d like to go to.

Some lads are never happy, McNamara will save you from another pay cut you commie new market civil servant …

After Healy’s transfers in Dub NE we’re at:

DUBLIN NORTH EAST 6TH COUNT Blaney 2,401 Guerin 1,799 Kenny 5,580 O’Toole 5,554 Power 5,314

Kenny now ahead of O’Toole. Still really close. Next two to go are FF gene pool. Blaney’s rhetoric was very anti-FF though. Guerin first.

Very insipid bunch of candidates. No-one with any hint of a radical opinion.

Uncle Tom Fitzgerald is starting to grate on me a bit.

This Arthur Spring fella seems like a bit of a tool.

“As you can see from the scenes behind me we’re going to paint the town red tonight”

A glance behind him shows a bunch of lads sitting around drinking tea

Myself, Bohs, Rangers and the DUP have had our day in the sun but the people have spoken. I’d like to offer TASE my heartiest congratulations and wish him no ill will.

The tribune is going to be sorely missed tomorrow :frowning:

Where’s Clifford plying his trade these days?

Heard him on the radio alot last two weeks. Was hoping Business Post might pick him up. Anywhere other than the indo to be honest.

Fine pair of Camacho armpits on Flanagan.
