There is talk of Olivia Mitchell being Ceann Comhairle.

But she’s a woman…

Angela Merkel and David Cameron rang Enda Kenny to offer their ciongratulations and to say that they were looking forward to working with him.

That just doesn’t sound right.

FFS!

No doubt they’re just checking in on the debtors Farmer.

Bye Bye Dick… Thanks for the memories.

:guns:

Just Eliminated.

Christ that’s weak Farmer.

Dick’s elimination (talk that he may go to the court to contest).Friend of forum still in with decent shout with Behan about to go

Marvellous stuff. Some right cunts got their comeuppance in the last few days.

May have been spoken about elsewhere, but Johnathon O’ Brien’s win in Cork is quite remarkable. Not a SF TD since 1927 and he tops the poll.

He’s a top guy from what i know/read/heard of him and is certainly part of what could be described as “new” Sinn Fein. He’s a very hard worker as well, which should be a prerequisite of a politician, but unfortunately isn’t.

Friend of the forum Donnelly is going to be elected in Wicklow.Subject to a possible recount as he won’t do it by more than 150 or so over Brady from SF

Fair play Larry. Quite the gamble landed.

Agreed on O’Brien Kev. Between the likes of himself, Pearse Doherty and McLoughlin, SF have some good young politicians in the Dáil now. They might have had more if Killian Forde had been a bit more patient - though he probably wouldn’t have gotten the Dublin NE nomination anyway.

Feel sorry for the likes of Larry O’Toole who has been one of their best politicians/activists in the 26 counties over a long time. But the younger guys are the future and if they can capitalise on their number of seats now and start influencing debates (as opposed to just disagreeing with policies) they might be a proper left wing source of influence in the country.

How left-wing is their parliamentary party in the North, larry/rocko?

Less than you’d like/expect them to be.

It’s completely different circumstances though. London decides on plenty of budgetary decisions and even then though SF hold offices they’re in a power-sharing agreement so it’s hard to actually influence policies one way or another. GFA means that certain votes must be supported by “nationalists” and “unionists” so you’ll struggle to get left-wing policies through without the creation of a left-wing grouping among Unionists.

Had a very interesting conversation with an outgoing FF TD from the North Dublin area, jesus they are bitter. Denial merchants is all they are.

Was it the retarded guy (Kennedy) or the slightly brighter guy (O’Brien)? Kennedy is without doubt one of the dumbest people in politics. Extraordinary reflection on the country (and the constituency) that gombeens like him were ever elected.

I should have said North Dublin City. This guy has a brother who was a former Lord Mayor.

Cyprian bejaysus

Mind you, twas a good bit from Drumcondra he is. Was he involved in any of the expenses lark?
