For real?

Sure with a salary of 87k plus expenses why not

How much is the quota likely to be in respect to the electorate and expected turnout in Kerry?

He has no chance. Sargent got a very personal vote. Thereā€™s no great support for the party in Fingal.

I reckon they are both a few votes short of a quota

In consideration of what has come to light about noonan @Julio_Geordio will you still vote for him, @glasagusban @Smark @Nembo_Kid

Just saw that, Oā€™Brien at 1/4 vs Oā€™Donovan 2/7 and Neville 4/9. A proper FG dogfight for the coming week

Incredible scenes. Did the Limerick Leader publish an opinion poll or something?
I donā€™t see him as being that much of a shoe in. Iā€™m beginning to think Heffernan will poll much stronger than I originally thought.

@sidney although @rocko has no longer any connection with the constituency and has followed most of his family away from its sweet land, his stab in the dark is correct. Having talked to the man today, Joe feels he has every right to fight for the last two seats but his machine is small and green issues are way down the pecking order here.

I despise FG more than any other party and would never vote for them anyway Joe

Did you see Beefy Heffernanā€™s election line? #deffovoteheffo

Heā€™s using that himself!

No way will Emmet Oā€™Brien get more votes than Oā€™Donovan. Oā€™Donovan is a cert, 2/7 is a great price. Oā€™Brien will very likely get third spot at the expense of Neville who has a poor chance IMO and even Beefy will push Neville.

More than Renua?

Renua is a joke, not to be taken seriously.

Iā€™d be fairly happy if Lucinda didnā€™t get returned in Dub Bay South. Best chance of that is a strong FG vote I reckon, even if they donā€™t get the second seat.

why is TUM protecting a person who protected kiddy fiddlers

SWEEP SWEEP

Probably the same reason Gerry Adams did.

Even if she does get in, sheā€™s an irrelevance. FG are leading the government and will likely lead the next one, they are worth attention.

Former Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmoreā€™s wife has been appointed to a major education post with a salary of up to ā‚¬136,000.

Carol Hanney is to take over as CEO of the City of Dublin Education Board (CDETB), just as Mr Gilmore becomes eligible to start drawing from a ā‚¬2m pension pot on the back of his political career.
The current CEO Jacinta Stewart is retiring at the end of the month - and Ms Hanney has been offered the position without it being advertised externally. The move has led to criticism from one member of the board which rubber-stamped the appointment, who says he was ā€œfuriousā€.

Councillor Andrew Keegan told the Irish Independent: ā€œI donā€™t know the woman or whether sheā€™s the best person for the job but there hasnā€™t been an open process.ā€
No other members of the board made any objection to the appointment.

Ms Hanney was previously the chief executive of Dun Laoghaire Vocational Education Committee (VEC) but it was subsumed into the education and training board in 2013.
At the time there was controversy when Ms Hanney was redeployed to work as a policy specialist on further education and training in Ruairi Quinnā€™s Department of Education.
Mr Gilmore, who was TƔnaiste at the time, totally refuted allegations of cronyism.
Asked about Ms Hanneyā€™s promotion to CEO, which takes effect on March 1, the Department of Education said it is the result of an agreement reached with the relevant trade union when 33 former VECs were merged into 16 ETBs.
At the time there was not a sufficient number of posts at the grade of chief executive officer to accommodate all of the existing post holders who had been appointed in a permanent capacity.

But it was agreed that those who did not get a CEO position would be first in line for any future vacancies before recruitment via the Public Appointments Service could be considered.

ā€œIn accordance with the aforementioned redeployment arrangements, Ms Carol Hanney was offered assignment as chief executive of City of Dublin ETB with effect from March 1, 2016, and she accepted the offer,ā€ a spokesperson for the department said.

The CDETB said Ms Hanney will be ā€œresponsible for the education, training and youth services provision in the city of Dublin provided for in the Education and Training Board Act 2013ā€. The salary for the job is between ā‚¬119,381 and ā‚¬136,276.

Ms Hanney was previously involved in controversy after selling a site in Killimore, Co Galway, to the State for ā‚¬525,000 in 2007. She responded to a public advertisement seeking land for a new school.
