General Election 2016

I support a multilateral tax treaty at a European and world level, but unfortunately Ireland is against that.

Ireland has several other advantages beside its low level of corporation tax such as the English language, its geographical position and its educated workforce (yes) and its climate in relation to cloud computing locations. Saying that its merely the corporate tax rate alone that has these companies here shows a distinct lack of belief in anything the country has to offer and leaves the country open to being little more than a doormat for these firms.

See my last post above mate. Thatā€™s the way I see it.

Itā€™s not pleasant, what we need to do is start promoting SMEā€™s and small indigenous businesses across the country.

Thereā€™s no mention of that though from any of the parties.

Where did I talk about one not existing?

When did I say Sinn Fein were not abstentionist?

You are making stuff up to avoid the truth, the nationalists could have voted for SF and backed the armed campaign through voting. They didnā€™t.

You have very low expectations :fearful:

Iā€™m no more a fan of Sean Russell than I was of Seamus Twomey, pal.

Can you answer the question about why youā€™re anti-peace-process?

And can you clarify your own position as regards your very public and explicit support for neo-Nazis?

Why do you support terrorists ?

Go on, answer the question.

Iā€™m only 30 years of age pal, still only starting off.

And I did say only comfortable enough, I wonā€™t starve anyway.

But Sid, if Corporation Tax is increased you are essentially saying wages must decrease to keep Multinationals in Ireland?

You canā€™t have it both ways.

Put it this week, in the next few years the chances are you will get married and have a few kids.

45k wonā€™t seem like much then.

This old wives tale of an English speaking, educated workforce in Ireland as the main attraction for these companies is pure bollocks.

Putting everything into that basket like we did construction 6/7 years ago will result in another disaster.

I said these firms should pay what theyā€™re due.

Instead you have the farcical situation where the Government is fighting the European Commission to stop it paying the tax it is due and actively and publicly being seen to facilitate tax evasion.

Do you think thatā€™s a good thing?

Mate itā€™s just about comfortable no more, I am married with kids already - have a modest mortgage in comparison to what it would be in Dublin so thereā€™s no fear of me. The Mrs also works.

Iā€™d pay more in rent now where Iā€™m living then the mortgage itself so Iā€™m happy. Iā€™ll be mortgage free at 55, not so bad.

He doesnā€™t have to as he knows it wonā€™t happen.

As well as SF well know, hence their lack of movement on CT. They want actual power in Ireland and want to be here for a long time. Sid just has to talk shit on here.

The funny thing is that Sid and his ilk are as bad as those heā€™d bemoan for voting for FF all those years. He is just championing a different bunch of power hungry people who are willing to put their principles aside for it. Ones who committed atrocities across the island.

Youre totally missing the point. While SF have made great ground in attracting labour voters in particular, they are still transfer toxic to the vast majority of the middle classes. Given the opinion polls they should be able to secure an extra four seats through transfers. But this will not happen. Adams doesnt help with his basic failure to understand mathematics. Secondly, his past us still a huge issue to the middle classes here.

Look itā€™s not ideal the situation we have with Multinationals essentially holding a gun to our heads but it is what it is.

If they up & leave we lose a frightening level of employment for highly educated & skilled workers. The fall out is the ā€˜ā€™ lower paid ā€˜ā€™ services sector will also see a result in job losses. It would have a devastating domino effect.

What have I made up?

Youā€™re the one who has shown a complete ignorance to the facts and political system in the O6 and youā€™re the one who has consistently evaded my question, so Iā€™ll try again.

Do you think that a party who runs on an abstentionist ticket is taking constitutional politics seriously?

Do you think that SF superseded the IRA in the 1980s?

Boom*

  • excuse the pun

There are several European countries that have a lower corporate tax rate than Ireland.

Multi-nationals are not flocking to them.

Itā€™s a major factor.

So you think the Irish Government should have no indiscretions about kowtowing to non tax paying billionaires and large multinational companies.

Fucking hell, you staters are some quislings.

That has fuck all to do with Government in the Republic, mate.
