And that’s not counting our gambling winnings.

ETaxing work becomes counter productive and 100k is arbitrary. What about a husband and wife on 95k each. Do they pay more

Say a lad has a plumbing business. Makes 100k a year. Does he take a risk, buy another van and Hire somebody else, work harder to keep 30 per cent.

Say multinational looks at Ireland do they come here if top talent they need pay marginal tax of 70 per cent

In Germany if lose job you get 66 per cent of salary for 6 or 12 months. In Ireland social insurance is capped and everybody gets the same. It does not work as insurance and is unfair as you don’t get back what you paid when you need it

Social insurance should be a safety net and not a hammock

Low taxes are the way to go. People have the right to spend what they earn and be incentivised to earn more. VAT is the fairest tax, spend more pay more. And eliminate waste, take on the medical consultants, halve the size of the dail. Don’t slash frontline services but seek value for money.

It’s not being punished.

Those earning more than €100k pay a wee bit more on earnings over €100k.

In most cases it shouldn’t impact on the standard of living of that person.

Be thankful, grateful, proud your earning what you do, why would you feel punished?

Those that do in most cases have a decent life, surely it’s nice to pay a wee bit more on earnings over €100k to run the country and assist some poor fella on €30k to try have a bit of decent life.

Hang on - there’s no 11 plus here.

That assumes person on 100k is not already paying margjnal rate of over 50 per cent. Should he pay all of his income over 100k or is 70 per cent enough.

Making a 100k a year or more usually means working long hours, making sacrifices

Where will extra tax go - higher public servant salaries and pension like it did during the 2000 to 2007 with little obvious increase in services

Are you against income tax? Taxing work is not counter productive.

Can we please stop with the constant scaremongering about multinationals. They won’t come here if we tax plastic bags. They won’t come here if we tax sugar. They won’t come here if we raise corporation tax. They won’t come here if we raise income tax. Some people just need to feel part of an empire.

To be perfectly honest, there should be very few in the public service on over 100k

Not of course not against income tax but Marginal rate of 50 per cent should be enough. Somebody else getting more from my labour than I get to keep is morally wrong

We have a progressive tax system. 881,700 people pay no income tax at all. 38 per cent of all income earners. 648,700 people, 28 per cent of workers, pay neither tax nor USC.

You are incorrect on this point.

Have you ever heard of the “backward bending supply curve of labour” ?

Idiot.

We have a mostly progressive income tax system. We supplement that with regressive taxes.

EG would have paid 100k plus on income tax last year

he is leading by example here

Says the guy who wants to abolish the 11 plus.

Some shite on tv3 with that Yates cunt. He asked a Fianna Fail lad why they should vote after what they did to the country in the past, the lad starts answering and Yates says we don’t need a history lesson. FFS blueshirt cunt

€100k is a fair wedge alright. % earning it is small though.

It’s the large % of 20k to 45k earners who seem to pay for the people who want free benefits, medical cards etc. Is she fighting for those cunts too?

€8.95 is cheap for a spot of lunch.

Why would we get into bed with those bastards?

Absolutely. The most disadvantaged in the six counties are young Protestant men who have been left behind. It’s a disgrace. Part of this is down to the DUP/UUP not giving a fuck about them but part is due to the 11 plus.

We need an inclusive society. SF are working with disadvantaged Protestant areas in back to school and other initiatives. You don’t hear about that though
 That’s not news.
