There you go… A measured post.

You’ve a few head bangers here that think I’m a die hard socialists when I’m anything but. I just don’t like what we’ve become in recent times. A lot of people are being priced out of their own country and are struggling to just about stay afloat and we can do better than that … But all we get told is what a great country it is… We’re booming. Full employment. High minimum wage… And to stop complaining…and if you really need to look at anyone, blame the welfare cheats…

The political system as a whole is out if sync with modern society… It’s a 19th century system so what can we expect I suppose.

I’m not sure how we change it, but our Presbyterian brothers in the north could be the injection needed.

any figures?

Sorry Choco, I’ve no time to shit this week because of the man.

Haven’t even had time to look at news or the poll in depth. Only home an hour. I’ve to be out tomorrow at 6.20am for an early meeting.

I’ve two business dinners tomorrow and Thursday, not late and no drink involved thank God but will be long days.

I will be voting Sinn Fein. I’m happy to pay more tax.

There should also be at least a living wage. Jesus, imagine trying to live on €357 a week.

The HAP scheme is the biggest joke of all. It will be a bigger mess than children’s allowance. It’s heroin. Those on it will never come off it. Money going to Landlords and pushing rents up.

Been very impressed so far with Pearse and Eoin O’B. If they keep them front and centre they could do well although I think 20% is inflated.

The MSM is waiting in the long grass for them. There will be an all out attack from about 10 days out. It will be like The Sun against Neil Kinnock back in the day.

Louise OReilly won the first debate by a distance.

Harry Potter from Sinn Fein is performing well here on Prime Time.

I didn’t see it, was that on Claire Byrne? Her voice does my head in but she’s well able for the other parties, she’s no pushover. Tough union bird, won’t be bullied.

gonna catch it on +1. Who’s on, all the housing spokespeople?

More bollocks

How can you reconcile voting for the party of Dessie Ellis and O Snodaigh?

The country badly needs a tent at Galway races . Houses were built because of deals done there . Whatever party promises a tent gets my vote .

Have to be FF so, FG would only drive over the tent with a JCB

Surely he’d know he’s own take home pay

Murphy - who did well in fairness, O’Brien (obese FF chap), Jan O’Sullivan, that head banger Boyd Barrett and the Sinn Fein fella.

We have a so called right wing government yet social welfare spending is off the charts. I have posted here before about our situation the council bought the house next door around 3 years ago and in situ we have a single mother of 3 mid 20s kids all under the age of 5. While myself and the missus have 2 good jobs we work long hours to fund a decent lifestyle interms of holidays paying for holidays college fees etc. My point being how is it fair that she is paying fookall in rent while we have to put up with anti social behaviour, bins not being put out and all sorts arriving at all hours of the day and night with slabs of cans and no doubt other substances. Not to mention the banshee wailing she does at the kids and she has gone through Sky, Eir and Virgin media in the last few years also😉.

We have had enough and are in effect being pushed out of our home. The council are buying houses all over our estate. This is common all over the town and I am sure it’s the same in other towns and cities. Our mortgage is finished in 4 years but we have had enough and are actively looking to move. I have nothing against people having a safety net, I myself was made redundant 3 years ago and I was glad of my dole for a few months but had paid enough in stamps over 22 years working to entitled to it.

She is going to leech off the state for ever and her kids will probably end up the same. Now what is the solution to that but on the other hand where is the fairness for taxpayers who are being asked to perpetually pay for this? Is it fair that myself and my missus are in effect having to move and take on a mortgage when we thought we would be free from such a commitment as we hit our 50s?

Listening to some parties I fear they will only try to tax us more. I get up early every morning to work and I am proud to do so.

It’s actually gas this media outrage at 24 year olds not being able to purchase houses.
I mean to say, the average 24 year old isn’t even remotely interested in anything bar getting a big of strange.

The panel here shouting that rents should be cheaper in Dublin, rents are going up because there is clients lining up to pay them.

The major problem in Dublin is that it’s full. Government & IDA need to move Business elsewhere. Middle Ireland is crying out for Industry and new people.
We have spent money on Motorways but only use them to Ferry people into Dublin.

@mickee321 made a good point the other evening, a Government scheme to implement more WFH incentives should be thought out.

Do all these office based jobs really need Thousands of people sitting at desks looking into computers?

There’s no fairness to it… In theory the idea sounds great. But it could be two or three generations before certain families shake off the handout culture they have become accustomed to. It’s not fair you worked hard and others get it for free… Youre paying the price for years of political mismanagement and woeful planning. Years of the same two parties being voted in to do as they wish.

The same happened to my old family home…the mother there on her own. They got the first occupants out, scum of the earth.

They need to introduce measures that if you fall foul of anti social behaviour then you are out.

Will never happen who is going to turf a mother and 3 kids out?

100%. If a politician was to raise these points it would be political suicide though. “How dare you attack the most vulnerable in society etc…”

Social welfare should be there to support legitimate cases of hardship. Those incapacitated, the elderly, those made redundant and actively looking for work etc.

Boils my piss to see people using social welfare as a lifestyle choice, though. Those who have never worked, who don’t currently work and never have an intention of finding work. And they get everything handed to them while the mugs next door break their backs to try and keep a roof over their heads.

Totally unfair to demonise all people who rely on the state for financial support, the vast majority of people out there want to work and provide for themselves. But surely it’s not unreasonable to have a system like “you’ll get full dole for 36 months, for the subsequent 24 months you get 50% and after that you get nothing.”

There’s a family near me who have never worked a day in their lives. Three generations living in the one house (which they received for nothing of course). Must be taking in €3k or €4K a month with little enough outgoings bar their Sky and I-Phones. Every single one of them has a Medical Card too.

Zero incentive for these people to improve their lot. Why would they.
