General Election 2020 Hub

My parents were not remotely academic but they instilled a seed in me of having respect for my neighbour and working hard to earn what I have.

These parents who don’t want to work for fear of losing their lush benefits are not leading lights to their offspring.
Education is key, always has been.

“Education is the silver bullet. Education is everything. We don’t need little changes, we need gigantic, monumental changes. Schools should be palaces. Competition for the best teachers should be fierce; they should be making six figure salaries. Schools should be incredibly expensive for government and absolutely free of charge to it citizens, just like national defense.“

If I can’t afford a new car I should just buy a Used car. If I can’t afford to live in Dublin then maybe Athlone?

Where I really detest all past Governments is the bottling up of our Capital. Expand, expand etc etc.

But life choices are life choices.

What’s your point? … You’re trying to wade in with black and white scenarios here when life isn’t any of that.

“8 is too late” is what they say. In reality, it’s earlier. In general, the path they will take is already well set by the time they start in Junior Infants. Sad, but true.

It’s called the real world. You know the valid points I’m making. I’ve seen all sides throughout my upbringing so don’t call my views black & white.
The Fearless Prince of the downtrodden act from you is gas altogether.

I’m anything but… Your attitude is that you expect people to do as you’ve done in life when you’ve already said your parents instilled your principles in you… Then what chance has someone who’s parents didn’t? Who neglected them? And all theyve ever known is one way of life… You’re very quick to blame the have nots in this world and totally dismiss the failings of society that give rise to inequality and to that way of life.

Be grateful for your parents. Have empathy for those that weren’t so lucky.

Ah stop. It is very obvious that there are plenty of kids who look up to their teachers and embrace education to better themselves.

But it doesn’t change the fact that the Social Welfare scene is rotten with people hell bent on doing as little to nothing for as much as they can get.

But, it’s always people who work hard and pay the taxes who are cunts for pointing out the hypocrisy of the Screaming Mary’s.
The only leg up I got was education, I used it to the best of my ability.

A 40 year old man just home from work at 9pm. What a grim life

How many people are screwing the system? We’re at 1.4% long term unemployed out of a population of over 5m.

Unemployment is at less than 5%… You lad’s would have us believe every second person is robbing the country. I’d say 90% of people are honest and want to work to better their lot.

If so many people are cheating the system , how did Leo’s campaign only see rewards of 300k?
And did you ring it with info on all these welfare cheats?

How’s the form lads? I’ve had a rollercoaster of a day but sure life is good. While itching to join this discussion I’ve decided it’s not really worth it. Buuuuuut… It’s all about the education absolutely. Some of the poor fuckers in our society are done by the time they hit secondary school. @TheUlteriorMotive is right. Put millions into preschool and primary.

Good. Youve gotta start somewhere. Lets treble that. Ill get onto Duncan Smith.

No I don’t. Do you think anyone should give more than 10 hours on a trolley?

My mother, who has paid tax all her life, has health insurance and all that other stuff FG like, spent 13 hours on one before Christmas before eventually being admitted (and subsequently being in there for 2 weeks).

we need more exercise for kids. Push ups and squats at 4.

And the worst 2 kids should be made to fight each other every day.

Bigger populations need larger hospitals, there’s no denying that. Hope she’s well.

In the current climate nobody wants to hear about the positive Hospital stories, everybody wants to hear or read about horror stories. That’s the way it’s gone.

OK. we’re done hopping our balls now mate
Move on.
