General Election 2020 Part 2

Thanks for confirming my point. So she put the party first there :+1:

Chunks of that public spending went giving significant pay raises to the likes of you ahead of being focused on hospital beds or social housing.

I didnā€™t hear much argument about that at the time from you. ā€œIā€™m alright Jack ā€¦

Iā€™m not really sure what your first point is. If I suggest Varadkar would prefer go into opposition I canā€™t refer to his actions as taoiseach?

If you say so. Funnily enough in a personality profile thing I did a couple years back it said the opposite. But Iā€™ll admit iā€™m far from an expert on politics or how people will vote for example.

Wasnt pay rises, it was restoration. Thatā€™s before you even get into the extra hours.

The vast bulk of money being wasted in health and housing is on the ā€œmarket,ā€ which the blue shirts worship. Weā€™re spending more money on HAP and rent allowances than we are on house building. Weā€™re allowing site prices to rocket while the state holds significant land banks.

As for healthā€¦

Wage restoration was weighted towards people levels below me, and rightly so.

But again, thanks for pointing out the difference between public spending and caring for people beyond your own constituency.

Itā€™s really funny but not surprising that the two biggest FG cheerleaders canā€™t see the difference between the two. It says an awful lot.

Ah would you fuck off with your ā€œrestorationā€ - it was the wielding of political power by the public sector unions to grab as much of the available pie as possible. ā€œRestorationā€ is just spin as you well know.

You obviously agree with the prioritisation of ā€œrestorationā€ over money to social services. Hilarious.

Whatā€™s hilarious there is that the party you cheerlead are the leaders on this.

No I donā€™t and you clearly canā€™t take that from my post. Pay levels are still below 07 levels while the cost of living has increased dramatically, all due to the blue shirts devotion to the market.

If you think all the ills in Ireland are due to pay restoration then Iā€™d humbly suggest you need sectioning

Define a typical civil servant there for us @iron_mike.

I just did

I actually donā€™t understand the point - youā€™re saying you should show you care without spending money on the target of your caring?

I actually think youā€™re broadly correct about HAP in that itā€™s a huge waste of public money. However, in the absence of houses Iā€™m not sure what other option there is. I think it was brought in as a response to a crisis rather than some sort of sop. As far as I know SF arenā€™t promising to abolish it?

No heā€™s not though, because like you who was completely wrong in comparing to the US (completely devoid of facts, including claiming we were going to a US style of healthcare when the scheme FG have signed up to was crafted by very left wing parties).

Glas didnā€™t even mention public spending, as facts are against him.

Who are these various interests? I can list you out the various increases? Increases in social welfare annually? Increases in home carer credits? Decrease in prescription charges? Increased healthcare and police staff? Decrease in pupil teacher ratio?

Lots more there I can list you if you want.

Apparently building a childrenā€™s hospital is for vested interests as well.

And FYI Iā€™m not happy about our public spending increasing by ā‚¬11bn (or 17%) over the period. It is outpacing inflation. We need to cut more of the national debt. But donā€™t tell lies.

Again, itā€™s funny you donā€™t understand the point.

You point to public spending as a barometer of how much the government care for people with looking at what itā€™s on or where it goes.

HAP is a tiny amount of the increases still.

I wonder would Glas call the increases in his pay packet over the period a vested interest?

I know - and while I think some level of pay rises were due, too much of the pie went that way. That has been the history of this state in many respects though. The pension exemption recently for PS workers was just another example.

I think it somewhat weakens your argument that FG only act in the interest of their voters. Would you say this move was an act to their political base?

Every single year social welfare has increased, including the full restoration of the ā€œChristmas Bonusā€
Every single year home carers credit has increased
Every single year prescription charges have fallen

Do you want me to go on?

I really donā€™t, your posting is mind numbing. Tallback is a good guy to actually discuss a point with.
