The roads in Cork were always very bad, third world in some place, the old road from Mallow to the City was like something in Africa

2 places Iā€™ve noticed the road going from African dirt road standard to modern decent standards are mallow to killarney and killodorry to killmallock cork side is absolute shit up to the border sign then the roads are grand. Difference in tarmac colour and all

The new road is like a Formula 1 track at 5pm on weekday evenings. Thereā€™s a mad panic to get as far as Mallow.

As a young lad in Cork there was a road known as ā€˜the dual carriagewayā€™, it went from just past the train station to the glanmire roundabout by Lota, it was the only road of its type in Cork, doubt there was many others around the country either??
Then the south Link and kept going from there, itā€™s completely unrecognisable now from back then, my aunt had a compulsory purchase order put on her a few years after her daughter was murdered, could never settle and went to an early grave (I digress)
The roads in Cork arenā€™t bad at all these days though
