General Election 2020 Part 2

I figure all FF’s current shite and bluster about not going into gov with SF and about trying to form a gov with FG is just to improve their negotiating position. Go in with FG and they’ll get wiped out next election, force another election now they’ll lose more seats immediately and be worse off than they are now.

It’s hard to tell. There’s defiantly a split in the party over the whole thing.

SF wont be in government,

FF/FG/Green…its on.

That was evident from the RTE poll the night before the vote.

FF TD’s are getting phone calls and emails telling them not to go in with SF. They definitely wont go in with them.

There’s no appetite for another election. Grand Coalition with Greens

whatever about FF… i dont think leo et al have any desire to go into a coalition
Leo seems happy enough to sit in opposition and tbh youd have to respect him for it as it shows he at least respects democracy and the result of the election - they’ve lost seats - its time to move over

obviously the whole “change” thing is a great buzzword and we all voted for “change” - but if FF FG are deemed to be FFG then a very large proportion of the country didnt vote for any “change” at all…
thats the other side of the coin of course
now maybe FFFG FFG will realise they are the same thing and just go into power but then they loose their sense of existence and egos may prevent that
my 2 cents is
FF FG will go into opposition and support a minority SF led governement who wont have power to pass any budgets or legislation…we’ll be back at the polls in no time

we could also be in a space where the shinners may need to really start winding in their neck w.r.t. policy in order to negotiate agovernemnt
not sure how the dolers will react if they hop into bed with mickee and the soldiers of destiny?

SF will come back and say they don’t have the numbers. FF/FG wont go into coalition with them. All eyes will be on FF and FG. FG wont do a confidence and supply so they’ll be bounced into a coalition with the Greens,

I don’t think that coalition will last long but I cant see us going to the polls again.

No chance.

There will be uproar - rightly.

SF are going in or we are going to the polls again.

The Fianna FĂĄil parliamentary party has agreed not to enter into talks with Sinn Fein about government formation, sources suggest.

It’s understood, however, that the party has agreed to enter into discussions with the other parties.

Speaking following a meeting of the parliamentary party this afternoon, Limerick County TD Niall Collins told Reuters that the party was fully behind not going into government with Sinn FĂŠin.

He also said a possible coalition with Fine Gael was not really discussed at the meeting, and added it may not be possible to form a government.

So FF are doing the same dance as SF now. What a waste of time? Just get on with another election.

I think it’ll last five years. FF might as well get the full whack out of it when they know they’re never going to be in government again.

That won’t dramatically change the landscape, there’ll still be a coalition needed.

FF don’t know what theyre at.

FG clearly don’t want in, is it principled or do they realise there’s trouble ahead they want to swerve.

Coveneny showed a little chick in the armour today - said they’d go into talks if a gov cant be formed… i.e, when SF cant form a left rainbow they’ll jump in with FF and Greens.

FF are even stupider than I gave them credit for. They could at least talk to SF and say they couldn’t come to an agreement

That is a massive mistake, it will just turn more people against them. They are not a party of people with brains are they?

They’ve been getting texts and calls not to talk to Sinn Fein … lots of texts and calls.

Yeah, you’d surely imagine FF should speak to SF, hard to believe they both cant see the sense in that.

I see Coveney mentioned today they’d perhaps go into talks if a government can’t be formed. I’d say they’re very reluctant to do that even. They look like they want to retreat to the backbenches and regroup, which would appear to be what the people want them to do.

FG will play the game for a while but if push comes to shove I think they will fold ultimately and do what needs to be done for the country.

They’ll end up with Niall Collins as leader and god help us all then

We’re in a serious game of knifey spoony here at the moment.
