General Election 2020 Part 2

Why would FG not be as cynical as FF were being mooted to be here the other day ā€” Let Martin get a budget off and pull plug if / when itā€™s not going well or public perception is low ā€¦ thereā€™s a large floating vote out there that SF have for now but the margins between each party is so small, a little percentage swinging back would have them top dogs again.

If it was first past the post in the election just gone, SF would have nearly all TDs in the Dail.

How much did they cost? 40m?

Theyā€™ll all need to be upgraded from Windows XP as well.

Iā€™ll put them in contact with a lad so out out the licenses

They wouldnā€™t have elected anyone else in a first past the post system. Thereā€™d still be the same number of seats, itā€™d be just first preferneces and thatā€™s it. Everyone of SFā€™s 37 TDā€™s would have been in the seats on first preferences and none of the 5 that werenā€™t elected would have been. They were involved in basically no marginal seat calls.

I donā€™t know. I think it is more than the hardcores. And that just goes to show why they lost a nice few seats in the election.

Smart man. Some people just arenā€™t cut out to be landlords

Because people want change and will punish any party that is seen standing in the way of change.

The jig is up, either support SF and whatever rabble they cobble together, or form a government and give the people what they want (whatever that is, does anyone actually know?).

Did you not answer that question at the start of your post?

Its change ok. CHANGE. its a five letter word. Just get it done.

I was one of the (un)lucky ones who actually got to vote on one. It felt wrong. It felt like sacrilege. It felt impersonal. It felt like getting a pint from an automated bar. But I wouldnā€™t change the experience, because the failure of the experiment then meant that the future of our incomparably brilliant paper ballot counted and recounted by hand over many hours election count system was assured for ever more.

No. Genuine question, what do you think the electorate want?

I suppose the only question is, is it worth keeping financially, if not get rid of it. Genuinely canā€™t see why anyone would even be talking about it. The tax rate seems fair enough to me. Iā€™m an ā€˜accidental landlordā€™ whoā€™s lucky he has a tracker rate. If I didnā€™t Iā€™d sell it and take the hit. I donā€™t really see how anyone can whinge. The property market shouldnā€™t exist as a cash cow.

Thatā€™s fine ā€” but your totally underestimating the ego in this. Most politicians will believe they can turn any situation around. Itā€™s not as if FG are starting far off the othersā€¦ they can spin it any which way they want.

The Indo think Sinn Fein will steal your house.

More houses to buy at affordable prices, cheaper rent, better return for our money in healthcare, lower insurance premiums, tougher sentencing for repeat offenders, a childcare system where you can actually get childcare. That kind of shit I guess.

its a statement of fact - im loosing cash as it dosent make sense to rent it - that has to be a contributing factor to the so called rental crises - i wouldnt say im alone in that regard
