Not unlike our elected representatives, the left is all over the place in here. Christ, leaving them to govern the country doesnāt bear thinking about.
Goad away kid, Iām not going to engage anymore with you amateur antics. Youāre out of your depth, fact. Iām not trying to insult you, Iām just a purveyor of the truth.
The overall balance in a second election mightnāt change hugely, but SF would probably get 50 seats and clean up in the places they missed out this time, and the pressure to be a junior coalition partner on FFG would be much stronger than it is now, because that would be the second election after which a government was at risk of not being formed, and the finger would be squarely aimed at them.
Fianna Fail are the fool here. They have one chance to remain relevant and remain relvant long term, and thatās by leading a coalition government with Sinn Fein. Fianna Fail need to lead another government to be relevant, they need it like oxygen. If ever the saying āpride comes before a fallā was aptā¦
Thereās only a few leftists in here but like all leftists they are very loud. Empty cans etc. What they fail to understand is last weekends vote was a protest vote, an anyone but FFG vote. Most of those voting for SF wouldnāt even know what left and right means, the only leftists are those giving their first preference to PBP and Labour, Sidney Laz and a few Joe Loughnanes.
It was. Until people could no longer afford to buy houses once theyād served their life apprenticeships. Now you have a really angry cohort of people from 18-35. And they seemed to bother their arses voting.
It maybe LEoās best move to throw the Horsey set a few bob and have them organise student race days at every race course in the country for the next election date.
Purveyor of bravado on the INTERNET. You engaged, not the other way round. If you canāt handle democracy let alone the truth then by all means sulk away and sling your hook
Agreed about anger. Whatās striking though is that even though the numbers are unlikely, the various left parties have been jumping away from the idea of a left coalition this week.
Theyāve heard the anger and campaigned for change based on it but mostly now seem happy to wait until the next election. Cold water being poured by Greens, Labour and Social Democrats.
Itās always over the next hill.
SF might win 50 in another election but youād question how likely theyād get Greens/SD/Lab/PBP on board even if the numbers stacked up.
Is it not the simpleton foot soldiers on the backbenches who are really the problem though? The Chamberseseses etc. Martinās desperation makes me think he could fold, but I think itās more likely heāll jump FG into an arrangement.
How long after the '89 election did it it take FF to relent about coalition? That election was on June 15th and Iām sure there wasnāt a coalition formed or possibly even an announcement of initial talks until about July 7th.
The FF/Labour government took until January to be formed. Iāve less of a memory of recent years but didnāt the arrangement last time take a good while too?
āTidal wave for SFā āIts clear the vast majority want SF in governmentā āmasses against the classesā. This lady has her eyes and ears wide open, some fellas on here could learn something and should really start accepting the will of the people
Very silly of IRA/SF not to run more candidates with all those seats that were there for them going to waste. Mind you, not running extra candidates pretty much guaranteed they wouldnāt end up with most seats and provides an excuse to shirk the responsibility of going into government.
