I reckon Cork will beat Kilkenny if Horgan wins the appeal. They could/should have been well ahead at half time, the sending off obviously crucified them late on.
JBM is a legend, OâhAilpin will probably wade in and slaughter him again but I certainly wouldnât write them off. Too many good players in that team. Missing Sweetnam, Murphy, Paudie OâSullivan, Cahalane, Aidan Walsh and Ciaran Sheehan has to have an effect though.
Have Walsh and Sheehan hurled Senior Championship for Cork? Bit of a stretch to say they are missing.
Neither of them have no. They would both be dead certs to start if they decided to play hurling though, but wouldnt disagree with your point i.e. we cant miss what we never had!
Going by that u-21 Munster final two years ago when Walsh caught nearly every puckout and scored 7 or 8 from play I reckon itâs reasonable to say he would be an asset to them.
Iâve never seen Sheehan play but a few lads at work familiar with the Cork club scene say he is a very tidy hurler and would be worth a place.
You could nearly say the same about Sweetnam-how many times did he play senior? Once or twice? Eoin Cadogan would have been a more pertinent mention here I wouldâve thought.
Bring it on pal. The best thing that could happen this summer is for Galway to meet Limerick in the semi-final. It would be a great warm up act to our rumble on OâConnell Street!
We could go for a Smokey Bacon burger in Supermacs after I ceremonially smash your head up and down OâConnell Steet-Iâm hopping off the walls here with the thoughts of it, kid.
On his form last last year I wouldnât pick Cadogan ahead of any of the 7 backs used by Cork so far in this years championship. Sweetnam showed great promise in last years league and made an impact off the bench on all the games he came on in last yearâs championship. He wasnât even 19 last year and was making an impact - a loss no doubt
I donât particularly rate Cadogan at all as a hurler to be honest with you but in the context of players being a loss he is more relevant than lads who have never played senior câship hurling or whose appearances can be counted in minutes.
I always thought Cadogan was a bit short of skill. Had good drive in him. Better footballer. Sweetnam, on the other hand. was a class act. Was surprisingly dropped v kK in last years league final. He brought the fight to them virtually on his own when he was put on for the second half.
Agreed. But he certainly has as much right to be on that panel as Cussen. In fact Id throw him in full forward every week before Id put Cussen in there!! We dont know how Gardiner would get on in there, think we all have a fair idea how Cussen will!!!
Thatâs very true. To be perfectly honest Dan, I didnât think Cussen was even still playing hurling till the Clare game.
Throwing the big lad in when all else fails is a bit old school, but I wonât question JBM. You would think though another one of the smaller scoring forwards would do better with a different type of ball against the wind. The big full forward will often struggle to be effective against a strong wind as he has to come to the ball. And there was only one way Cussen was going to win ball, and it wasnât in low.
But thatâs what we have, there isnât much else.
