The kind of madman it took to end sixty years of failure. At least the lad we have now has the madness part anyway.

on clarefm this morning, very honest re his time under treatment, great to hear him again, back tomorrow at 9am
this is a very interesting topic and it certainly explains pukes desire to label henry martin as the source of the death rumours. the number of posters citing puke as the source of their information suggests an attempt to cover up methinks
Not at all, TAN. First posts I made on the subject was the following morning after it broke around 8:00 am. Wasn’t online when it broke but was aware of the rumour the night before
fair enough but you are being cited all over here as the confirmer of the rumour. my own policy on all these things is that i never post on R.I.P. topics at all. i think its maudlin nonsense for the most part (go to the funeral or send a card if you wish to offer condolences) but the forceful nature of your attacks on henry martin are miles over the top and totally unfair so i have to wonder what is the motivation for it. your own embarrassment on this topic is one possible explanation.
just to clarify what i believe to be the case the information was posted on a twitter account by a professional journalist. this was on the back of at least half a day or more of the rumour being rife by phone and word of mouth. it was posted on premierview before it was posted on afr and henry martins post was not the first post on the topic on afr. i believe he posted it on facebook after all of this was already in the public domain. henry martin took down everything really quickly and apologised for his contribution so i have to wonder why the fcuk you are singling him out for the abuse. have a bit of class and back off
Interesting interview. I only heard the last ten minutes of it this morning. Amazing how calm he seemed to be throughout the whole experience. There’s no sense at all of despair at any stage. He seems fairly philosophical about the rumours thing as well, except for the examiner’s role in it.
Loughnane killed cancer.
Is it possible to listen to this online?
:guns: Gotta love this guy
Loughnane accuses GAA top brass of lacking leadership
Ger Loughnane has launched a stinging attack on GAA president Christy Cooney and director-general Paraic Duffy. Writing in today’s Irish Daily Star, the former Clare and Galway hurling manager accuses the GAA top brass of lacking leadership and vision, and not tackling the big issues in the Association at present. As Cooney prepares to make way for Liam O’Neill at this weekend’s annual Congress in Portlaoise, Loughnane remarks: "The best think about Christy Cooney’s term in my view is that it lasted only three years. "He leaves this weekend without even a single notable achievement that will last the test of time in my opinion. "Firstly, Duffy and Cooney tackled the problems caused for many years by the GPA. In effect, they softened their cough by bringing them into the Croke Park fold. That was the problem solved. "Next in line was the most powerful body still outside their influence - the GAA managers. While nearly all emphasis has been on the payments issue, a considerable part of Duffy’s Report is taken up by what he considers the influence that managers have over county boards. "So clearly there is a two-pronged attack in trying to curb the power of this very influential group. They are looked upon more as a threat than an asset by the GAA top brass. That is just crazy. "Like an old stag in the rutting season, they are using up all of their energy in defending their patch against imaginary enemies and ignoring all the problems I have outlined. “Hopefully, Liam O’Neill’s approach will be more upbeat, more positive and less defensive. I wish him the best of luck as the new GAA president - but I wouldn’t hold my breath for a change of agenda.”
hon ger
Is that his first article back
Good to have him back anyway. He was missed.
Great to have Ger back but Christy Cooney is a gent and has done a decent job as president of the gaa
Christy Cooney was one of the arch-cunts who conspired to suspend Colin Lynch in 1998. May he burn in hell.
A lot of the negativity towards Cooney is due to his pay pack despite the fact that he was/is entitled to

The GAA is nothing without Ger Loughnane, a giant of a man, delighted to see him back to his best.
