As per the rules of the Association Christy Cooney was entitled to the money. No point blaming Christy for it, the rule was in place long before he got the gig. It is the systems fault and not the mans but people will always use it to distort the debate. I would have considered Nickey Brennan a far bigger disappointment as president but because Christy is on far more money people will use this as a stick to beat him with despite the fact that the mechanism for this has been in place for years.
Whether he provided value for money is another debate but he was entitled to have his wages from his previous job matched while President of the GAA, same as those before him
The barriers at the bottom of hill 16 have been a complete success. The removal of the Bishop’s speech after the minor hurling final has also been a welcome change.
