From the joke shop they were Limerick are consistently producing decent hurlers now. I used to smirk at Limerick underage teams once as they were all gung ho like their seniors, bar one or two small quick forwards their skill levels used to be atrocious. Not so now. I agree with the rest of his analysis. Clare’s soft 2013 all Ireland with the best two teams in the country gone before the semis, Clare’s small one sided forwards unable to win it in the air. Tipp having the best hurlers presently, Kilkenny the best men who know how to win out of habit. He still has a grudge with Galway over their failure to buy into him, but maybe he was past it a bit at that stage. He had no Nicky English or Liz Howard to rally Galway, his us v the world style could only ever work with his own county anyway. Fair enough the rest of it is cliched (Waterford need to attack more)

He has lost the run of himself there bigging up the Limerick underage set up. It has improved enormously in recent years but it was starting at such a low base the only way was up.

If things fall apart when any person in charge leaves, it’s a measure of their failure.
Winning two of the last three All-Irelands with the players Cody had at his disposal was a remarkable feat, even if one of these was due to a win over Galway, surely hurling’s biggest big day chokers.
