A bottle opener?
It’s a medal, that’s a key ring AND a bottle opener!
It really doesn’t get much better than that.
Very Australian. Congrats mate
Gobshite
Good practical use for a medal to be fair . Maith thù
It was put to great use that night.
Well done mate!
Incredible scenes
I’m not of G/B parish.
For some reason I decided to go back doing preseason with the senior hurlers, first session was last night.
Did no real winter training last year due to work, nuptials/honeymoon and injury and struggled for form most of the year and didn’t really enjoy hurling.
Have spent the last couple of months doing glute and core work in the gym to try and rectify a hip issue which has plagued me for a number of years now. My lack of cardio made ot a tough slog but the body held up relatively well with only some tightness this morning and no real DOMs
Got a text from our team captain asking if the season started back up in july, would my knee have recovered? So registered today and all ready to go for the defence of our title.
We’re dreaming, I’d imagine I’ll have a refund on the reg fees by August.
Knee recovering brilliantly, have been running a fair bit and doing some sprints. Playing a bit with Fitzy Jnr (or rather standing behind a goal kicking a ball back to him while he practices shots and free kicks).
Very hard to get used to the numbness on the knee after the operation, which apparently could last for years. I’m very concious of it when I’m running (and don’t want to be) but I think that’s what I have to get used to.
I would dearly live to plat in July though.
So, following on from the previous post, played the full season, we were minor premiers (won the league) but then lost in the semi against The Entrance who went on to win the competition. We were shite in the semi, but the fuckers only won after being awarded a penalty which Az saved. Ref then reckoned we had infringed, so had to be retaken, Az saves again only for their prick of a No 9 to get to the rebound and score, putting his foot through Az’s knee and rupturing his ACL into the bargain. So we’ve lost pir goalkeeper along with Nige, a centre back and class act, former rep player. His shoulder’s fucked.
The 2021 season starts tomorrow with us playing The Entrance, so grudge match. While we have lost some important players, we have gained some sensational ones in the close season. We’ve actually been training twice a week for the last 2 months and had a great pre-season match win against Woy Woy.
After 3 seasons playing as a right winger (cos you’re fast Fitzy and Andy has to play left wing) I have a positional change. I start tomorrow as left full back, where I’ve played most of my football life. Delighted, worked really well in the trial game. Tomorrow should be interesting, can’t wait.
Best of luck for the season ahead. We’ll all be rooting for you boys.
AZ having no luck these days
Thanks mate, I’m genuinely excited about the quality of the new players, some very technically gifted boys there.
He’s not dping too bad, gives him more time for fishing. He does big game hunting, Marlin and the like. I’ll pass on your regards.
How old are you now mate? Is this a regular league or an over 35s? - What average temps do you play in?
Left back in the best position in soccer.
I was relegated to there for a my last few seasons playing and was cursing that I didn’t play their all along. Loved it.
It’s where I finished up as well, enjoyed playing there but I loved playing in the middle of the park.
But I never played at a level where the team was announced days in advance of the game, while you’d be fairly sure of whether you were playing or not it wasn’t until the jersey was thrown at you that you could be sure of what the starting 11 was,
Did the boss name the team in advance @Fitzy
