Getting Back in the Game/you'd want your head examined to referee a ladies football match

As a wise man said to me once, things pop a lot more often in your 40s, cop on.

Very professional setup yesterday for the Kilkenny Senior (playing in the junior division) ladies footballers.
Unfortunately they were hammered by Derry afterwards.

Are those bananas?

I’d say so.

Bananas are used a lot by sports people. Carbohydrates and potassium and whatever else is in them stops you cramping-up. Especially endurance sports. Tennis players use them a lot.

Whats professional about that

They’d usually be edible though.

You don’t know Kilkenny football like KK people do.

I went into Kieran’s for a minor football trial. Admittedly years ago now. Only myself and one other lad showed up. The manager pulls up in his car and says to us. “Ah sure we’ll leave it so lads.” and drove off.

I played Vocational Schools football for Kilkenny. There wasn’t any jerseys for the subs. Just the bare 15.

You always need a sub or two.

How old is too old for junior D hurling (not in goals)?

50 and you’re at the point of injury risk shooting way up, no matter how ‘fit’ you think you are.

It’s still 60 minutes of heavy (literally at times) contact and running/turning at pace.

However, there’s no age limit for enjoyment.

Would also maybe take into account ‘seriousness’ of your club at the level, ie is it your clubs’ 3rd or 4th Adult Team, and if the club do try to use it as a springboard for young players into adult level etc.

Or is it a pure casual one (ideally)

Go for it flatty. If nothing else your war stories will be box office.

Agreed. I see absolutely no way how this ends total and utter disaster.
