Getting Tax Back

The P21 is in.

Was expecting to owe Revenue a few quid as my employer was leveraging off the TWSS (Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme) to pay me for a few months.

Turns out I shall be getting a payment of 46 euros to my bank account

That means the refund due to you was more than the TWSS liability. Has someone not fucked somewhere?

Have you 2 jobs?

Mine is still pending. Expecting a good bit back. Mrs Hunt was on unpaid maternity for what felt like ages.

Nope.

All my fellow WFH heros can follow these steps to claim living expenses

Do the bills have to be in your name?

I doubt they will audit this year due to the volume of claims. If they did, confirmation from the landlord that you paid them should suffice

Sounds good ill throw it in.

Hitman 3 is out at weekend.

A lot of people operating payroll software stopped the refunds issuing after a few weeks just in case; and a lot of people went to Week 1 too so the refunds wouldn’t have issued during the year.

That’s true.

He should demand that that his employer pay him the tax due by him to the Revenue.

The week 1 scenario may be giving a false impression of the liability.

The wage subsidy really was a victor the man.

Revenue are doing a big project over the next few months clawing back any overpaid amounts to the employer.

In addition to the compliance checks? And reconciliations?

Or focussing on those that haven’t properly dealt with the compliance checks?

The legislation is so poorly written they’ll end up losing in court if they try to challenge anyone with a decent case.

It’ll be on the back of the new batch of reconciliations.

That’s only a mathematical exercise though. They’re not challenging the concept of claiming.

Don’t mind that so much. That’s reasonable.

Thsi WFH allowane is fuck all in reality. Say if you put in 2k expenses you get about 30 snots back. I wonder do many employers contribute to the extra cost of WFH. I have sent a query to my manager. He said he was unsure why the refund was so small. I assured him that the refund was correct but my query was why should employees be subsidising the costs of the employer. I feel so mugged off I’ll be taking a longer than allowable lunch, grrrrr.

I just put through mine today. €588 of bills equates to a refund of around €96 based on 200 days WFH. I’m an outlier in that all my bills are broadband. The allowance for electricity/heat is lower. The €3.20 a day works out better for most people but employers don’t want the administrative burden

I’ve a grand in tax coming back to me… How long does it take to refund? About 5 months I’m guessing.
