Do the Irish team still train and have their base in Malahide/Portmarnock? Am looking for something to kill the day tomorrow, might take a trip up for a look

What time is kick off ?

They do. You know where the Malahide United pitches are there in north Portmarnock along the coast from High Rock?

They’re usually there from mid morning. You’ll see the coach in the car park if they’re there. The pitch is often restricted viewing with green barrier type things around the pitch to prevent you watching too much. But you can always watch from the gate to the pitch - they don’t stop that, they’re just making sure they’re not being “spied” on. Or you can just go to the hill adjacent to the pitch and look from there.

If you want to dine with them then I recommend a lunch in the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links. That’s where @Appendage and I went for lunch a few months back. Wonderful surroundings and Robbie is every bit the gentleman you would expect him to be.

You’ll catch Martin at mass on Sunday if you’re interested. Fine voice on him but he’s no Trap.

They trained at the new FAI Centre of Excellence at Abbottstown/Abbotstown today, pal. It looked stunning on the news. I think that’s their new permanent training base and your information is incorrect.

I have held offsite workshops in the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links, a fine hotel in a noble setting. The soup was a bit bland though

Oh fuck. Please disregard the above. End of an era for Portmarnock. Where are they staying now?

Revenge for 88?

We are down by three since then.

Possibly still staying there. They arrived on one of those red Bus Éireann buses. They’d hardly be staying out in Abbottstown direction. The superb training facility is another great testament to John Delaney.

Could be out in Citywest or somewhere though. I’ll find out tomorrow when my mother goes to lunch at the hotel. Stay tuned.

The Castleknock Hotel wouldn’t be far from Abbottstown and would be secluded enough with big enough grounds for them. Could be an outside shot.

Well done, pal. The morning papers reveal The Castleknock Hotel as the squad’s new base in international weeks.

A decent base next door to the finest GAA club in Ireland and has housed the Tyrone and Mayo football teams in the past along with the All Blacks.

What a blow to leafy Fingal :anguished:

The hotel would technically still be in leafy Fingal

What a coup for leafy Fingal (W).

Leafy (administrative) Fingal is probably the accepted term
