I was the second night too mate. I thought it was class. Really beautiful. He played out of time (from think tank) in the encore.
No encore on the Wednesday night
Ah come on. He did three songs for us. Ye must have been a terrible audience. Or maybe it was because Leo Varadkar was there on the Thursday.
Yes it was a very enjoyable set.

A 3 song encore is the expected norm
I donāt have an issue with acts who donāt play encores. The whole encore thing is a bit of an artificial construct anyway.

I would be in favour of bands only giving encores when they felt the crowd deserved it or shouted loud enough for it.
How many times have you been at a gig where the audience chatted away throughout and clapped politely after the ālastā song only for the band (or performer) to saunter out 30 seconds later right on script . Just play a longer set and reward a good audience 
Encores are part of a gig. They are expected but I agree with what youāre saying - I would rather if they were more spontaneous.
I was at a Whipping Boy gig years back and they played their ālastā song but they hadnāt played We Donāt Need Nobody Else
