Gigs coming up

Encores are part of a gig. They are expected but I agree with what you’re saying - I would rather if they were more spontaneous.

I was at a Whipping Boy gig years back and they played their ‘last’ song but they hadn’t played We Don’t Need Nobody Else :thinking:

What I’d love in that situation is if they played it again to close the set, that wouldn’t bother me at all with a band like Whipping Boy who can only realistically whip a large crowd into an absolute frenzy a couple of times.

For somebody like Damon Albarn how cool would it be for him to finish with Song 2 or For tomorrow

Kenny Rogers played The Gambler about four times in his Glastonbury set a few years ago.

Legend.

Not playing encores is a bit affected. It insists on itself too much. I think Fontaines DC don’t do encores but we’ll allow that. For now.

Costume changes are only allowed if you’re the Stones.

Or Taylor Swift (costume changes)

I saw Fontaine’s play Dolans a few years ago and they played an encore (I’m almost certain)
It’s all a silly charade, play an encore if the crowd deserves it

Mastodon generally play a two hour set. They don’t do encores or shit talk with the audience. They just play their music and get off the stage. It’s brilliant.

Proper order.

At least they have the back cat to do two hours. A lot of newer bands outstay their welcome. If you’ve only got 1-2 albums, 60-75 mins is enough, 90 at a max. I’m grand with or without encores.

Ticket got for Einsturzende Neubaten in the concert hall. Might be interesting.

Are you going pal?

Nature walks, craft beer and a whiskey corner.

Some excellent bands on the non-main stage there like Whiskey Corner and The Wild Turkey.
