Julia Holter in the Button Factory tonight. Very good.
Very enjoyable tonight. About a decade since I last saw her. Band was tight.
Bassist was on the top of her game.
Just out of Beak there in the Button Factory. Gig of the year for me I’d say. Lovely bit of cut to the stage banter with cyclists and Strada Dads getting a particularl doing cc @Locke and @balbec You love to see it.
Did you get any compliment on the avant-garde haircut?
I left the hat on.
I’d to let my ticket go for it. I’d to go to a fucking nativity instead, but in fairness, the senior infants gave a tour de France.
I won’t rub it in so.
Ah it’s all good. You win some, you lose some.
I reckon Holter on Tuesday was my last gig this year. Think I’ve done close to 20 this year which is my best number in a few years.
Next show is Jesus Lizard in January. Hup!
Glad you enjoyed it pal.
Got tickets there for Gang of Four. 26 June.
Dave Pajo (Slint) is the replacement on guitar for the late Andy Gill.
Frank and Walters in Whelans
Now
Are they still wearing the orange shirts?
They are.
We shouldn’t be advertising these t shirts in Dublin.
But they’re orange.
Bantz
A typical mr dull band
Who hurt you pal ?
Red Roses For Me Tomorrow night, a nice little warmer upper for the festivities and will bring back memories of the traditional pre Xmas Pogues gig in Dublin back in the day
How did that go? The review i read was very positive
Most enjoyable, very well choreographed as it had to be, kinda took from the rawness / chaos of early Pogues gigs for me, but it never could be like that again. And no Shane hit hard, one of the truly great front men. But smashing atmosphere, pints with pals and brothers, and after gig pints in Dalymount, skipped work yesterday for a few in Phillies, and still made it home in time to ensure a peaceful Xmas with Mrs Jones
