Giving to Charity

That’s fair enough pal, as I say I’m not saying they are perfect and obviously it is disappointing if some people are abusing the goodwill of the StVdeP to clear off bills and binge on booze.

Open to correction but I think it’s actually stated policy now from their HQ for the St Vincent De Paul to not give cash donations. I must check it out.

Tarring all charities with accusations of being run by scumbags is harsh you dimwit. And a sweeping generalisation which is the usual guff from you. Outside of the 3/4 high profiles cases of late could you maybe give a few more examples out of the over 18000 notforprofits in this country alone. As I said there’s good and bad but you seem to be of the opinion they are all rotten. What kind of organisations does this highly successful “friend” of yours work for anyway besides the one in your imagination that suits your latest bullshit know it all nonsense.

Nice post. Good job you’ve been at fuck all big match days in croker :joy::joy:
I give to medicines sans frontieres (after watching blood diamond funnily enough), and water aid.
Any money I raise otherwise goes to Irish community care in Manchester.
That family running the suicide “charity” should have a special place in hell, and in mount joy.

Deleted cos I think I may have been harsh. Well, not harsh but possibly libelous. But I won’t be donating to childline anytime soon.

You really seem to have taken this personally, which delights me.
Any of the charities with CEO’s on over 100k are certainly off the list. Or even 75k for that matter.
Tge good lady has worked with too many to mention really, dedicated her life to it.

Liardy Cunt you

The use of children is old hat now. That and puppies. All those ads on tv, mostly the slightly non mainstream channels like Discovery etc are complete charades according to any research done on them. As little as 10% of proceeds going to the actual intended receipiants.

SVDP do not give cash, on rare occasions will pay a portion of necessary bills for extremely hard up cases. I did a bit with them with them in dublin, yes some of the people you visit are chancers but its not like they are laughing away living dream lives, they are absolutely clueless regarding managing money, how could they be when they never learned any diferent. as for keeping track of funds and vouchers, the branch i was with had a co ordinator that would shame any accountancy firm. if you give to a TV charity or an on street collection you are a total mug.

You said the vast majority of charities are run by scumbags as relayed to you by your “friend”. That’s nonsense. I’m not taking it personally at all I’m just appalled by your ignorance. And are you now judging how worthy a charity is by how much the chief executive gets paid. So for example 75000 to run an organisation like the Simon community is too much and that person must be a scumbag! Nonsense. Is that what you are saying? Plenty of charities are providing services the state can’t or won’t and the people in charge don’t get paid anything like someone in an equivalent position in the private sector or civil service.

Yes and i ain’t talking about them you utter mong now am i.
But they are in the minority and certainly im the minority im terms of intake cos people are stupid cunts and get fooled by the charities who market themsekves the best and who prey on the most generous in the craftiest ways. I’m going to take the word of this person who has nothing to gain over some cranky dope on an internet forum. Not to mention the evidence i have seen over the past few years thru secerL exposè’s.

You have choosen to get offended like every other stupid sheep neo-liberal cunt going. I fuxking hate stupid soft cunts like you.

David Hall has been appointed Interim CEO of Console.

:joy: translate that pile of gibberish would you please and I might be able to respond.

Console should surely be wound up ASAP. I’d not give it a cent, ever ever ever.
That Melanie voerward, Gerry Ryan’s ex squeeze was some operator. She took hundreds of thousands off a children’s charity iirc in some sort of payment settlement.
I know my out fella cancelled his direct debit to that charity the day the news emerged.
How was she never COTY?

I heard of a guy who got a load of money for charity and threw it all over a nightclub dance floor in Galway after the fundraiser

but therein lies the problem. Console, as an organisation, are doing a serious amount of good work and are one of the largest charities of its type in the country. If they are wound up, then what takes its place? There is already a lack of resources of its type in Ireland, taking one of, if not the largest organisations out of the mix only creates more problems long term as there isnt enough resources to fill the considerable void that they will leave.

And you wouldnt be alone in that thinking either flatty, but closing them down is not the solution. The problem has been created by some utter cunts who were directors and were robbing the charity yet it will be the people who actually run the organisation and the countless volunteers that they have which will be affected most. And not forgetting the thousands of people who use console for the services it provides. It’s a completely fucked up situation caused by a right family of utter fucking cunts. If I saw someone outside with a console charity box, would I give them money? Not a hope. The brand is utterly destroyed because of this and I dont know how they will recover from it.

You should head around to Rebel Wheelers in Cork some Saturday morning. Amazing people. Few hours there is life changing. Parents are fucking heroes.

Another organisation the Ireland Funds back.

Its a turkey voting for christmas situation. The cronies will only replace them with someone just as devious.

Super, something very close to my heart, kinda knew they existed from some distant memory but actually know a few of the names involved.

Wonderful
