The movie is very good. Jack Black should have just appeared in that film and retired. Unfortunately he didn’t.
I haven’t read it. I’ve tried a few times to watch the movie but I can’t, its shockingly bad
John Cusack is a terrific lead man
It’s a great movie just very different than the book. In the book the morning routine at the start is hilarious, in the movie it’s serious. The funniest part of the movie is a brand new scene with business cards.
Perfect for that role.
That and Grosse Point blank with Dan Akroyd. We digress. Books.
Roberts has a follow up to shantaram out hasn’t he? I haven’t read it, the mountain shadow.
The movie remake was surprisingly good.
It’s a few years old but Solar Bones by Mike McCormack (from Mayo I think) is an excellent read
Pretty sure was mentioned here before .
An Officer and a Spy by Robert Harris about Dreyfuss is very good historical fiction.
Greg Hurwitz Orphan X is worth a read.
The curious incident of the dog in the night-time is a brilliant read.
The narrator is a young lad with Asperger’s Syndrome.
It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Yeah… Read about 100 pages of it and gave up.
Wasn’t feeling it
Life is too short to be reading books that are a chore…shantaram was way too fucking long as well… If I started it now I wouldn’t manage to finish it I’d say
Good to know.
I try and go for light, easy reading these days. Humour if possible or a thriller
Alan Partridge Nomad is probably the funniest book I’ve ever read
Ian McEwan decent fiction… Amsterdam, Saturday or Solar some of his better ones…
Irvine Welsh earlier books, Glue in particular
Read couple of the Irvine Welsh ones years back. Found them overly grotty with details to the point the story got lost
Will look at this Ian McEwan fella
Fuck you anyway. I’m trying to think of the name of a book for you all night. I’d say you’d love it, given your likes above. I read it about 15 years ago, about a young lad living in a rough part of London with his mother and he goes wrong into bad conpany. It’s super and I cant for the life of me remember the name of it.
There’s a TV series of it now. Zoe Kravitz (whose mother Lisa Bonet was in the film) plays the main role of Rob(yn)
Where can I watch this?
