Agreed on Farrell although I thought this was his best effort that I’ve seen-watched it again over Christmas and I think it’s an excellent movie.

In bruges is an over rated load of shit
In Bruges has the best use of Raglan Road in a film
Easy boy-forgot about Donnie Brasco to be fair. I don’t rate Any Given Sunday-his speech that everyone raves about is typical Pacino overindulgent dirge.
Agreed. In Bruges is excellent. Seven psychopaths is not as good but greatly enjoyed it. Agree with baloobas Sam Rockwell is just fantastic in it.
You have to lighten up and accept the silliness of McDonagh’s movies to enjoy them, at the very least they’re going to be somewhat off-beat. Agree on Sam Rockwell, he’s a brilliant actor.
Colin Farrell on the other hand is one of those actors that makes movies worse. Would have preferred if he wasn’t in Seven Psychopaths or In Bruges.
Rockwell stole the who but Walken was brilliant as well.
It reminded me of Lucky Number Slevin, also a great show, to an extent.
And In Bruges was a great show.
In fairness he’s a bit hit and miss. I thought he was brilliant in Intermission and Phonebooth. In In Bruges he gave a decent performance as as well IMHO.
In Seven Psychopaths he really just turns up and plays himself, if he is actually like the interviews that he gives.
I always find it strange that he gets bigger roles than Cillian Murphy who really is the outstanding Irish actor of his generation, to date.
He had a fairly big role in Batman Begins and that movie is bigger than anything Farrell has been in.
These are films, not shows.

Well Alexander, that Goddawful movie from Oliver Stone, had a bigger budget and Farrell got the lead role in that.
Granted it’s up there with the worst movies ever.
Murphy had a similar role in Inception so clearly he has a rapport with Nolan and his career will be all the better for it in the long run.
Ah yeah, I’m talking about how successful and acclaimed films are rather than the budget they had. The Transformers movies are garbage for example.
He was good in Intermission alright. Not sure Cillian Murphy could be light enough for the roles in the McDonagh films, even if he is a far superior actor.
Really? I remember being really impressed with him when I saw In Bruges as it was different to what he had done before, and his comic timing is just excellent, I think he works brilliantly in comedy films. He may be just now settling into roles he is more suited to, Alexander and playing the big hollywood hero is not his type of gig I reckon.
Cillian Murphy could star in a movie about Brian Cox.
