I watched a movie loosely based on the War on Terror last night called The Dictator-I had it on while working on my laptop so only had half an eye on it but it really seemed to cut to the core of American foreign policy.
That’s a brilliant film! Saw it in the cinema and the tension really ratchets up. Danny Boyle is excellent.
Anyone ever seen La Classe Americaine? It’s a French film made up entirely of clips from old American movies, dubbed over to create a completely new storyline. It’s must be one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen.
A few clips from it:

Speaking of overdub parodies… has anyone ever seen A Man Called Rainbo?
They took a very early Sylvester Stallone movie from the late 60’s early 70’s called “No Place to Hide” and cut and spliced it and overdubbed it with new dialogue.
Funnier than shit.
My favourite line… “hey man, is that horse giving you a hard time?”

Gonna see this soon. ^^^
watched Flight recently. Goodish film, but slightly spoiled by that fuckin’ Goodman cunt
Saw Lincoln last night. Excellent film, very long but justifiably so.
Die Hard 5 is out this week, can’t wait
Went to see “No” down in Smithfield this evening.
Based on a true story, it is a decent enough effort telling the story of the guys who led the ‘no campaign’ against Pinochet in Chile during the 80’s.
A hint of Mad Men due to the fact much of the movie focuses on the advertising campaign they employed in their battle against the extremely powerful Pinochet at the time.
Watched Contraband the other night on Sky Movies.
Didn’t expect it to be much good, but i was pretty impressed with it. Good action flick & a few good twists. 7/10
Was at this tonight. Day Lewis is really excellent in it. Very good film.
Savages is a very good film.
Lincoln.
Thought it is was superb myself. DDL is excellent as ever but the cast around him were fantastic too.
Django Unchained.
Saw it there on Friday night.
Thought it was very entertaining but just got ridiculous at the end. Similar to Inglorious Basterds in that respect.
Argo was way overdone, too overly dramatic. I hate that shit… the phone gets picked up at the last second, they get on the plane just as yer man finds out who they are, plane takes off just as the truck load of lads with guns almost catches it. I fucking hate that shit, it ruins what could have otherwise been a good film.
Besides that, the film was very historically inaccurate. It makes out like the CIA did all the dirty work, when it was the Canadians who initiated the whole thing and did most of the work.
The name and “alias” that Mendez took on for the mission, was an Irishman named Harkins, he spent weeks before the mission practicing an Irish accent.
Mendez also was not the sole CIA agent involved, there was two of them, the other guy is simply known as “Julio” and his true identity has never been revealed.
They had no problems boarding the plane at the airport, they basically walked into the airport and got on the plane. There was certainly no truck load of bearded fellas with machine guns chasing them down the runway,
Watched Drive last night. Heard conflicting reviews about the film but i was generally impressed with it. Gosling was good throughout, the actual filming was good and the soundtrack throughout excellent. 8/10
Die Hard on RTE 2 now.
Sure what else would you be doing?

Watched Undefeated tonight. Finally available 2 years after it won the Oscar. It’s a documentary about a high school American football team in Memphis. Excellent watch.
Seriously? I saw this a few months back off pirate bay or some torrent site. It was recommended in best docs of last 10 years or something.
Very good alright. Doesn’t have the perfect ending which is great but shows how hard it is to be anyway decent as a volunteer coach an keep family life on an even keel. Shows the amazing imbalances in American society as well.
