He was good alright.
I quite enjoyed it. At least it was original and not a movie hero origin story or some sci fi prequel/sequel which is all we seem to be getting now
Unlike the latest lord of rings tv show, Gangs for the most part was historically accurate.
Agree with everything there 100%.Im not a fan of any of McDonaghs movies.

In bruges is good
The dialog in some of them is nauseating
Cavalry for example. Pure scutter
Gangs of New York is a total mess of a film.

I think the original shoot was about five hours. Then it was chopped. And it looked like that.
Scorsese has many great films but that and Wolf of Wall Street were pure scutter for me.
Wolf of Wall Street is a great Irish movie.
